Product Description

Burris 3-9x40mm Fullfield II Ballistic Plex Rifle Scope Burris 3-9x40mm Fullfield II Rifle Scopes have a one-piece main tube and eyepiece, Burris envied steel-on-steel adjustment system, and HiLume multi-coatings on every single air to glass lens surface. The Burris FullField-II Scope is even more forgiving for eye position, is a little shorter, and a good bit lighter. The magnification ring and eyepiece have been made into one solid unit requiring only two seals rather than three. To change magnification, simply turn the entire eyepiece. Burris Fullfield 2 Scope eliminated most of the potential leak paths in the eyepiece/power ring area and sealed the remainder with special quad seals instead of O-rings. The adjustment system has been moved to improve mounting options and the European-style adjustable eyepiece requires no locking mechanism. The Ballistic Plex reticle has a lower vertical crosshair with small ballistic lines that automatically compensate for bullet drop from 100 to 500 yards for many common cartridges. The Burris Fullfield-2 Riflescope is lighter, better sealed, and has a relocated adjustment system compared to the original Burris Fullfield. I received my order in a timely manner, but when I inspected the package upon receipt, I was irritated to discover that not only had it been poorly handled (The outer shipping box was dented in in multiple places and had clearly been manhandled despite being marked 'fragile.') but it had also been poorly packed with the product container being wedged in a corner of the box with the packing materials. Fortunately, Burris's reputation for ruggedness has proved true yet again. The glass is clear, and of reasonable quality, though lower light conditions are not its strong point. The particular model I got was the 3-9x40mm ballistic plex. If you're planning to do hunting mostly at dawn and dusk I'd recommend you buy the 50mm model with the illuminated reticle. I haven't had any functional problems with the scope: it adjusts easily and hasn't had any problems holding its zero, even with a powerful cartridge in a light rifle (.270 win, 6.5 pound rifle) except when the base mount rattled loose (not a fault of the scope). Use loctite blue on your base screws, by the way, it'll save you a headache.

There are a few areas where I think the Fullfield II could use some improvement. The coating isn't bad, but it could certainly be tougher without adding much cost. The eyepiece rotates, which makes the use of flip-up covers difficult if you prefer those, though burris provides the rubber-band sort of cover. I also would have liked to see more options in eye relief, but this is after all a budget scope line.

Anyway, to summarize my thoughts on the scope, it's a fantastic deal. I paid about $160 w/ free shipping, and for a comparable Leupold, bushnell or nikon I was looking at $300+. Really the only way to get a similar deal is to buy a rifle+scope package.

I have bought a lot of scopes over the years, but Burris are my hunting ones for 308 win, 270 win, 30-06. Why? They just plain work and don't lose their zero under regular hunting rifle field abuse. They hold zero and the reticle design are medium value. The reticle is not too thin, not too thick.... it is just right for hunting.

A 2800fps bullet, 2650fps bullet aligns with this BDC just fine for medium range hunting if you have to pull a shot out to 400yds off.

It can do it fine. It is clear glass and works for hunting great. Thank you Burris, you actually listen to us Hunters out there. The rest of the industry doesn't. This scope can take field conditions and holds zero without issue. I can't say the same for other scope manufacturers I have dumped and will not buy from again due to zero loss and inconsistency from regular range use. This Burris optic has never faltered- that is why I have 4 of them on different rifles. They just plain work for hunting!

I've used four of these (Fullfield II 3-9x40mm model 200162) in my time. They are a good, but not great, middle of the road scope. One of them was bad from the get-go. It had bad turrets that would bind up and not provide full range of adjustment. With some difficulty with customer service, I returned it to the factory for a replacement. The most disappointing part of the scope is the turret adjustments. The clicks don't always have a good solid sound and feel. A Nikon 2-7x32mm Slugun scope I have is far better in this regard.
pros: good eye relief, good viewing as dusk/dawn, bullet drop compensation feature, forever warranty, for $150 (2013) it's a good buy
cons: click adjustments are not robust, turrets don't have spring-loaded return-to-zero feature, dealing with Burris customer service was a challenge.

This is an excellent scope with clear glass, good field of view. I like the windage and elevation knobs that are finger adjustable and don't require a coin to adjust.

I installed a Burris 3-9 x 40mm Fullfield II Ballistic Plex Rifle Scope on my Savage 30-06 to replace my aged Simmons 3X9 scope. I just finished hunting first season riffle with it and successfully shot a 6X6 Elk at 260 yards kneeling. Following the instructions it was easy to mount and zero. The mill dots are fantastic and work well. In my case I just used the 3rd mill dot (300 yards for a 30-06) and the round hit exactly where I expected. The scopes low light/first light capabilities are good too. This is an awesome scope for the money.

The scope is a great value. It has very clear glass and no issues with holding zero. I decided this scope because it has a generous eye relief range. Most other scopes in this price didn't have a range. I.E. Redfield revolution. I'm very pleased with my purchase.

Great scope for the price. I have several and have tried others but keep coming back to this one. If you have multiple rifles to scope, this is a solid choice.

My husband chose this scope over a more expensive one. However he is very pleased with the quality. He will purchase another one of these in the near future.
