I normally like Burt's Bees products, and have been wetshaving with a double edged Merkur razor with platinum blades for quite a while. Burt's Bees used to make Bay Rum shaving soap cakes that lathered well and had a nice scent. I tried this shaving cream expecting the same level of product.
It was VERY POOR compared to even dollar bars of shaving soap.
This cream stays very tacky when applied to the face, and does not mix with water well at all. As a lubricant it stays sticky on your face and gums up the razor blade badly. Even rinsing off the blade under a very hot tap does not clear the blade of hair and goo.
I tried using it straight on my face as a shaving lubricant and it remained sticky. I tried mixing it in a shaving bowl with a nice brush, and it produced no lather and got my brush sticky. It was completely useless as a shaving aid. Maybe the next time I need to paste together two sheets of paper I will get it out of the cabinet, but I recommend staying far far away from this stuff!

First off, no this shaving cream does not lather, as some other reviewers have complained. It goes on in a thin film that is not unlike a thick lotion. If you're looking for foamy, go somewhere else. However, you should know that most of that foamy stuff creates too much cushion between your face and your razor. You will get a closer shave with this cream. I have a red, coarse beard, and I've never had a closer shave (I've never used a straight razor though). You simply cannot feel any beard stubble after using this. This is hands-down the best shaving cream I've ever used. And it has a pleasant, manly smell.

I'm bald. Yes I've attended many self help meetings and read books, I've suffered an intervention or two just coming to terms with that fact life presented me with. It has taken seven years but I'm finally okay with being bald. And this product helped.
Here's the deal though. Aside from one bald spot, my hair grows. I'm young and I'm not going to rock the horseshoe look. I shave every other day if not every day, that's head and face. I go through a lot of shaving cream and razors. I've struggled for years and tried every shaving product you can imagine. Even products made for BALD guys by BALD guys. Nothing works. Until I discovered, Burt's Bees Shaving Cream.
The clouds parted, angelical voices sang on high and a tiny angel said, "be bald and beautiful."
No more razor burns or bumps. I get the closest shave possible using this product, hands down.
Love the smell. So does the lady in my life I like to impress on a daily basis.
Leaves my head feeling smooth and and retains moisture. Other products leave my head feeling so dry and tight I would need to use a lotion. Not with this product, I shave and I'm done.
It's all natural. <--It's all natural. I don't know about you but I like products with integrity, craftsmanship and that's organic. I've been using it now for two months and I haven't had one razor burn issue. This in the past was a common occurrence.
It isn't for everyone, maybe you don't like the smell or the label or blah, blah, blah. Be as picky as you want there are a lot of options out there. But it works.

There are some nice shaving creams out there. This is not one of them.
It does smell good, but that's about it.
