GREAT lip Balm! And, if you're inventive..., July 22, 2006
...and attentive, you'll notice that you get twice as much in the tin as you do the tube version, for the same price. I buy a few of the Burt's Bees lip balm tubes and, when they're empty, I put my candlemaking skills to use with the tins of Burt's Bees lip balm that I've bought:
Get a pair of visegrips, and adjust them so that they snugly hold the tin. You'll want to squeeze the tin lightly to make a tiny v-shaped pouring spout for refilling the tubes. I heat up one of my electric burners over low heat, place the tin on it until the wax begins to melt, then I carefully place the visegrips around the tin to hold it for pouring over the empty tubes (try not to touch the hot tin to the plastic tube, unless you want a jagged edge to your tube. I know I don't). Even if you have steady hands, like I do, you'll still end up spilling a few drops of the melted balm, but once you've refilled the tubes, recapped them, and let them sit to cool, those old tubes will be as good as new!
You get two for the price of one with these tins and a few empty balm tubes, with no quality loss. And, if you're thinking of melting these over a candle, don't do it - I've tried that, and if you don't mind getting ash into your balm, go right ahead. Otherwise, the smoke will collect on the bottom of the tin, and simply discolor your fabulous Burt's Bees balm. And nobody wants that!

Burt makes me feel all tingly!, September 29, 2005
I have a wicked problem with dry lips. My bottom lip will actually crack down the center and bleed with lip balm on it. It really hurts too. This was a regular problem until I picked up a little tin of this stuff. It healed the cracks I had and I haven't had the problem since. It does an amazing job at moisturizing without feeling heavy or gunky on my lips. It has peppermint oil in it that makes your lips tingly (but not overdone) and the little tin fits better than a tube in my jeans pocket. Despite the tingling there's not much of a taste to it and it doesn't make your lips all glossy when you don't want them to be (which means my husband will use it too.)It cost a tad bit more than some traditional drug store lip balms but it goes a long way and you are getting what you pay for.
