Close observation of this particular product line has left me with only one answer: "All the buzz about Burt's Bees products is worthy of our attention." They promise and they deliver. Each product is like a work of art.

These products speak of honesty and down-to-earth goodness. They make no false claims and they tell no lies. The Burt's Bees products are pure, good for your skin and make you feel pampered from head to toe.

It seems there is a run on the Burt's Bees products at times because I often find the grocery store box of lip products empty. Have no fear because you can order them here.

This particular "gift set/sample set" is perfect for gift giving. The Apricot bath oil can be used to refill nail oil bottles. It is deliciously rich and you can use the oil on dry areas of your skin. The cuticle cream has a lovely "lemon meringue pie scent" and of course the lip balm is the best on the market.

There are samples of the other skin care products, including:

Peppermint Shower Soap - invigorating
Rosemary Mint Shampoo Bar - tingly
Orange Essence Facial Cleanser
Almond Milk Beeswax Hand Crème
Coconut Foot Crème - soothing for heels and dry feet
Milk & Honey Body Lotion - smooth silky lotion to baby your skin
Carrot Day Crème - healing
Lemon Butter Cuticle Crème - lemon meringue scent and healing
Hand Salve - especially good in the winter or when gardening
Beeswax Lip Balm - my favorite lip balm of all time, don't make me live without it!

Once you try them, you will be hooked!

5.0 out of 5 stars Practical and very effective product., December 24, 2005
This kit was given to me as a gift and since I travel a lot it came very handy and useful.

The Beeswax Lip Balm is great, especially the feel of rosemary on my lips that less long time.

Bees Coconut Foot Crème, with coconut oil makes my feet light and refreshed after every application.

Since I have oily skin I appreciate the Facial Cleanser that deeply removes the excess oil of my skin and dirt from the environment. The orange scent is great.

I have used many scrubs, but the Citrus Facial Scrub is really gentle and does not make my face red. The citrus makes me feel very clean.

Avocado Butter Hair Treatment rejuvenates my hair after every application, and makes it look stronger. I also use it as a styling mousse.

The skin of my hands glowed after applying the Burt's Bees Hand Salve

The lightweight Carrot Day Crème is excellent. It is very absorbing and protects my skin from ultraviolet rays. I apply it in the morning and in the afternoon for total protection, and the result is visible.

Lemon Butter Cuticle Crème makes the look of my cuticles and nails like they have been pampered in the most expensive beauty spa.

After each bathing I apply E Body & Bath Oil that makes my skin enough moisturized for 24 hours

The Milk & Honey Body Lotion absorbs quickly and provides long lasting protection and makes my skin soft and glowing.

I tried many soaps but the Peppermint Shower Soap does not leave my skin dry and rough. The clean dried calendula, comfrey, and peppermint unsurprisingly revive and buff my skin while bathing.

The Rosemary Mint Shampoo Bar cleans and conditions my hair superbly. And the best part of this shampoo is the fresh invigorating rosemary and mint that truly stimulate the scalp.

I highly recommend this kit, and even more since it's not tested on animals.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Products, Nice Assortment, Great Company Philosophy, March 31, 2006
Purchasing this sampler and trying these fantastic products has prompted me to buy several full-sized products of this line including the Lemon Butter Cuticle Crème, Peppermint Soap, Wild Lettuce Toner, Bees Wax Lip Balm, and Citrus Spice Soap. The Lemon Butter Cuticle Crème and Peppermint Soap are my favorites so far. Burt's Bees' commitment to recycling and using natural ingredients is consistent with my own philosophy. Having been a cosmetologist in my younger years, I looked up some of the unfamiliar ingredients in my Dictionary of Cosmetic Ingredients. As far as I can tell, everything is all natural and benign. The packaging is also very nice. The plastic containers have a high percentage of recycled content, and the soaps are paper wrapped. The company also uses some glass containers, which are not as bad for landfills as plastic. I am allergic to many products that contain perfumes and fragrances; and though Burt's Bees' products are scented, they are not overpowering. The scents are subtle and non-irritating. I will be using these products for many years to come.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great starter., July 2, 2007
This review is from: Burt's Bees Head to Toe Starter Kit (Contents may vary) 1 kit (Health and Beauty)
This is an excellent starter kit for those just getting into the Burt's Bees swing of things. It has all the little soaps and creams to get introduced to the line. I like Burt's Bees a lot because it is very natural. It is not organic, but it is definitely much better than the conventional commercialized beauty products.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Pre-Packaged Travel KIt... or a bedside table goodie bag, February 20, 2007
After hearing raves about Burt's Bees products, I purchased my "Head to Toe Starter Kit" from a mass retailer. The products in them are small (very small) and they are all basically GWP sizes. My kit differs slightly from the one above and I'll list off the "substitutions may occur" products that came in mine.

(1) Citrus Spice Exfoliating Shower Soap (0.8 oz.): A dark green exfoliating soap about the size of a hotel complimentary facial bar of soap. Smells of citrus, cinnamon (barely), and patchouli. If yours is anything like mine, it picked up the scent of the...
(2) Peppermint Shower Bar (0.8 oz): What can I say, it smells like peppermint.
(3) Wild Lettuce Toner (1 fl. oz): Haven't tried this yet.
(4) Hand Salve (0.3 oz): This stuff looks like Carmex, except less sticky, more firm, and more oily. A bit unpleasantly oily until it absorbs. Leaves a soft sheen to your hands.
(5) Honey Lip Balm (0.15 oz): Like a full size of chapstick. Nice feeling and taste.
(6) Lemon Butter cuticle cream (0.3 oz): About the same consistency as the Hand Salve, comes in similar packaging. Has a lovely light lemon chiffon smell.
(7) Peppermint Foot Lotion (.47 fl. oz): Smells like Crest toothpaste. I think I prefer the Bath & Body Works Aromatherapy rosemary-peppermint foot cream.
(8) Orange Essence Facial Cleanser (.56 oz): Formulated for sensitive skin, has a citrus smell.
(9) Almond Milk Beeswax Hand Creme (.25 oz): In a small Carmex-sized jar, this has is very similar to the hand salve, except it is a little easier to apply; it turns to an oily cream at a touch. Has a wonderful almond smell, but when that fades, it leaves a beeswax smell. A little bit sticky. 98% natural.
(10) Banana Hand Creme (.25 oz): Exactly the same as above, except has a faint banana smell. 100% natural.
(11) Burt's Bee's Milk & Honey Body Lotion (1 fl. oz): In a hotel-shampoo type container, this softly fragrant body lotion is a little thinner than the consistency of your average Bath & Body Works lotion.

I like the Milk & Honey body lotion, the almond milk hand cream, the lemon butter cuticle cream, and the lip balm. This is a great and relatively inexpensive way to sample a bunch of the products instead of buying the full-sized originals. I immediately purchased another as a birthday gift for a girlfriend. The Starter Kit makes a wonderful "whenever" gift, great upscale bathroom gifts for guests, cleansing + moisturizing travel pack (I'd give it half a week before used up), or just something for yourself. It is well packed and comes in a handy clear plastic zippered bag that is sized *just right* for this collection. If you like samples, this is a good buy. While I don't like all of the products, at least I got a chance to try them. Next time, they should perhaps replace a "creme" with a small bottle of shampoo. But I'm just nitpicking now :)

Verdict: I would definitely buy this again.

5.0 out of 5 stars Buzzing about Burts Bees Starter Kit, December 31, 2007
I bought this product as a gift for my niece and as soon as she opened the package she was so excited. She could hardly wait to try the goodies and the first product she used was the lip balm. Wonderful! She was opening and smelling all the other products. Since she is so much into being healthy she was excited that Burt's Bees has such a good selection for her personal needs. The plus for me was the big smile on her face.

2.0 out of 5 stars Better than buying individually, June 12, 2010
This review is from: Burt's Bees Head to Toe Starter Kit (Contents may vary) 1 kit (Health and Beauty)
This kit is better than buying individually, so you can see which products you like/hate. I agree with others that the picture is deceiving. The one I purchased was from Walgreen's, in a small plastic pouch. If I had bought it here, I would be very disappointed.

The products they offer in this kit tend to change, and it was a while ago when I bought mine. I have sensitive, dry AND oily/acne prone skin.
So the TONER was too drying because of the alcohol content.

The CARROT SCRUB smells really nice, and the face lotion feels good, but they were both too heavy for my skin.

The SHAMPOO BAR has an herby scent, I really enjoyed using this. You hair will be clean, but not squeaky clean. I used it alone, no conditioner.

The FACE SOAP was disappointing. Pretty lackluster, nothing special about it. It didn't dry my skin but didn't feel like I was really washing my skin.

The HAND/CUTICLE salve has a nice lemon scent, but I didn't feel the need to ever moisturize my cuticles. Used on my hands, it's just way too greasy. But I tried it on my lips, and it was really nice I would use it that way, which leads me to

The LIP BALM just didn't work well with my skin, it made it peel more. Very disappointed about that, especially since others have only great things to say, but can't do anything about sensitivity.

When I bought mine, they were still manufacturing their LAVENDER AND CLAY TOOTHPASTE, and mine came with a sample of it. I recently tried to purchase it only to find they re-branded and reformulated their toothpastes, which sucks because it was awesome! I swear that in the little time I used up that sample, my teeth felt cleaner and were whiter. As a bonus, it didn't foam/lather so there was no gag factor.

Overall, I found that most of the products that came with my kit didn't work well with my skin. In general, I don't think Burt's Bees formulations work well with my skin (either they're too greasy, or drying, or with the lotions, leave a sticky film). That said, this item is a money-saver as an introduction to their products without wasting full sizes. Glad I bought this instead of any full-size...although the full-size toothpaste I wanted to buy is discontinued!
