3.0 out of 5 stars smells like baby powder
Works well, just like the other burt's bees lip balms, but don't expect a nice fresh scent. Makes your lips smell like a baby's butt. Disconcerting scent.

Burt's Bees, famous for their natural beauty products, has now added honey powder to the already delicious lip balm, known for its fresh pepperminty flavor. It was with great intrigue that I decided to try the new version. Alas, it does not have the same tingly peppermint flavor, but is milder and has more honey mystique. The texture is slightly more grainy upon application because of the honey powder, but it quickly turns silky.

Here is a comparison between this product and the original version:

Beeswax Lip Balm - Ingredients: Beeswax, coconut oil, sunflower oil, vitamin E, lanoline, peppermint oil, comfrey root extract, rosemary extract.

A soothing treat for any time of the year, minty and refreshing. Smooth application with healing comfrey root. Made me an instant Burt's Bees fan. Needs to be applied more often.

Honey Lip Balm - Ingredients: Shea butter, almond oil, cocoa butter, coconut oil, beeswax, candelila wax, lanolin, comfrey root, honey powder, rosemary extract, vegetable oil, fragrance.

A slightly more nourishing formula that seems to last a bit longer and has appeal for dry weather. Seems to last a bit longer and has a richer texture once applied. Soothing comfort, perfect for outdoor life or applying before you put on lipstick.

The only solution for anyone who misses the peppermint flavor is to apply both at the same time. I like that we now have two options because I can use the honey flavor before applying lipstick and then apply a vanilla lip gloss. I could see an entire line of various flavors appearing. How about vanilla, chocolate and cinnamon?

5.0 out of 5 stars Favorite lip balm, June 20, 2007
This review is from: Burt's Bees Honey Lip Balm Tube (Apparel)
Of all of the lip balms, glosses, sticks, tints, etc that settle at the bottom of my bag, this is by far my favorite. It's not mushy, it has a lovely, delicate honey scent and flavor (not a fan of the peppermint, it makes my lips burn), and it gives a great, nearly matte look. Plus, it's very emollient, lasts forever, and is very comfortable to wear. My only issue is that there's no sunscreen in it, but apart from that, it's about perfect.

4.0 out of 5 stars takes getting used to, April 10, 2007
This review is from: Burt's Bees Honey Lip Balm Tube (Apparel)
At first I was very disappointed with this lip balm. I bought it at a convenience store near our campsite because I forgot to bring any. I was expecting it to go on smoothly, like a chapstick. But after a couple days of using it, I realized my lips had gotten incredibly soft. The hard wax was actually gently exfoliating my lips, and they were getting so nourished. This was my first winter (I used to live in Hawaii), and my lips loved this lip balm. Because it's more waxy, it lasts so much longer. It may not feel the greatest at first, but it's so good for your lips.

I purchased Burt's Bee's Honey lip balm and found it to be just okay. The scent is rather light, the stick itself is hard and waxy. To me its rather average for a chapstick. Since I generally like Burt's products I was rather disappointed.

If you want a decent honey-scented chapstick, I would check out Bath & Bodyworks Savannah Bee Company Beeswax stick. Much better scent and it goes on smoothly.

3 stars. Average.

I had high expectations for this based off of my previous experiences with Burts Bees products. I found the fragrance of this extremely unpleasant. My mom gave it a try since she was looking for something and immediately gave it back to me. I purchased it at a gas station so I can't take it back.

1.0 out of 5 stars Overpowering musky perfume scent, June 23, 2009
This review is from: Burt's Bees Honey Lip Balm Tube (Apparel)
The smell is just too much, actually sickening. If it smelled sweet or fruity, that would be one thing, but musky odors do not belong in lip balm, and definitely not when they are this strong. It also has a very slight taste that is bitter. I'm throwing mine away.

Otherwise, the glide and consistency are excellent and it has natural ingredients.

A better alternative is Chapstick 100% Naturals.

5.0 out of 5 stars the lip balm i've been waiting for..., October 23, 2008
This review is from: Burt's Bees Honey Lip Balm Tube (Apparel)
by the time that i searched for this lip balm, i have practically almost given up on a decent priced lip balm that you could find at any ordinary drug store. i tried chapstick, carmex, soft lips, medicated blistex. none were amazing and some even highlighted the problems that i had but finally, i decided to check out reviews for lip balms here on amazon and was happy to read the reviews on Burt's Bees Honey Lip Balm tube and decided to give it a try and all i can say is WOW. i personally have one of the worst cases of chapped lips ever- sorry to say and... this lip balm corrected all of that in a matter of minutes. although i still had to softly exfoliate a little the first time with the balm already in place, once i had done that, i never again had to reapply that day or even the day after. i have finally found the lip balm of my life... a decent priced, semi-sweet tasting, unbelievably moisturizing treatment!!! if you like amazing lip balms and the subtle taste of honey... get this!

2.0 out of 5 stars Nasty Scent, March 21, 2007
This review is from: Burt's Bees Honey Lip Balm Tube (Apparel)
I was really disappointed with the lip balm. The scent makes me gag and the lip balm doesn't work well either...Chapstick is MUCH better in keeping your lips moisturized. I can't stand the smell. I've only used it twice and I won't be using it again because of the nasty scent.
