5.0 out of 5 stars The Holy Grail for Dry Skin and Weather
I wasn't sure that I would like this product, but thought I'd give it try with winter coming up and the fact that my skin suffers from the often dry weather and hard well water that we have already, even on a normal basis. I also really liked the Lemon Cuticle Cream, so I thought I'd give some other products a shot. In the end, I absolute love it!

3.0 out of 5 stars Good Moisturizer If You Can Tolerate Waxiness
***
Burt's Bees Rich and Repairing Cocao Butter and Macadamia Nut Body Butter smells wonderfully and may "moisturize and heal dry, rough, cracked skin". Unfortunately, I didn't like how it felt on my skin. It was waxy and the waxy part never really absorbed. I felt it all day. So...the smell is wonderful, the results probably great, but I have a hard time using it...

Most lotions and creams don't work well on my skin to help alleviate the dryness, much less touch the dermatitis issues that sometimes crop up. What has worked only lasts for a short while before I have to reapply it again. In all honesty, between being lazy and getting fed up with not seeing results, I started to slack on moisturizing as I should've been and my skin paid the price.

However, this body butter is fabulous! I have only had it for a little over a week, but noticed that my skin feels extremely soft and moisturized - not to mention looks healthy again. What's even better is the fact that I only have to apply it once a day, despite everything that I have to compete against. That's right - once a day. Party!

It took a little getting used to how it felt somewhat sticky/waxy within the first half hour of applying it, but I hardly notice it now. I did start applying it directly after I get out of the shower and quickly towel off though, which may have something to do with it. The waxy or sticky feeling is short-lived either way, and I love how it locks in moisture throughout the day. The smell is very subtle and not bad at all, which I'm pretty picky about. I think those who enjoy this, smell and otherwise, will probably appreciate the lotion as well to some degree, which is similar and not so perfumey.

I also use it during the day on my poor, thoroughly-abused feet, which are starting to see drastic improvements already due to this product and a few treatments of the Burt's Coconut Foot Cream that I also have fallen in love with. A few nights out of the week, before I go to bed and after I've showered or soaked my feet, I put the foot cream on first, followed by the body butter, which is more to get rid of the dry, sticking feeling of the foot cream and tends to cool my feet off. I slap on a pair of socks, go to bed and wake up with dry yet moisturized, baby-soft feet that smell delicious. Love it! My feet stay moisturized all day long, no flakes or needing to reapply anything.

I've also had this dry, dark and scaly patch of skin on my forearm, which I think was from a soap I was allergic to at my mother's house. Though the initial reaction went away, I couldn't get rid of the dark spot. With the help of my Clarisonic and this body butter, the patch is already gone and has been staying away so far. I can hardly see anything left and I couldn't be more thrilled. It also works extremely well on dry elbows, too.

Really recommend this product, regardless if you have skin issues or not. It applies very easily, has a cooling effect and works great in general. Although I can see the jar lasting for quite some time, I just recently ordered a new one today, just so that I know I won't run out any time soon. Frankly, I think this blows CeraVu and Eucerin out of the water, which kind of worked but certainly not this well.

Look forward to trying other Burt products!

Update: It's now April of the following year and I ordered yet another jar of this due to our cold, dry weather again. I still love this stuff! I did order a separate Burt's to use on my hands, since I type all day and need something that absorbs quickly and is easier to travel with. I found and use Burt's Bees Body Lotion, Cocoa And Cupuacu Butters, 6-Ounce (Pack of 2), which is light, absorbs fast and is cheap. I think it'll make a great lotion for hot summers, but this body butter will be at the top of my arsenal list otherwise.

5.0 out of 5 stars Thick protection for chapped skin, April 7, 2010

Been a fan of many Burt's products for years, but this is my first time trying the Cocoa Macadamia Nut Butter. This stuff is thick, incredibly thick, and leaves my hands feeling as if I've put on a glove. Heals up dry cracked skin, and doesn't wear off quickly. I doubt I'll use it much in the summer, but in the dead of winter, this is just the thing. Fragrance is very light, and is just a clean soapy smell, nothing especially flowery or perfume-y. Might likely get this again next winter. As for ordering it through Amazon, the price was right, shipping was quick, but was surprised to find a huge air pocket in the jar that made it look only half full when brand new. That's the one down side of shopping online - in the store I could have looked at each jar and avoided the half empty one.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent for damaged hands, December 31, 2007

NYC Buyer (Brooklyn, NY United States) - See all my reviews
My skin was in terrible condition from constant exposure to water, soaps, and detergents. After just one application of this body butter, my hands are showing vast improvement.

I did not find it to be too waxy; perhaps this is because my hands and arms are in such bad condition. I appreciated the protection it gave me.

If your skin is in great condition, this is probably not the Burt's Bee's product for you. You'd want one of their lighter products, such as their "Radiance Body Lotion."

But if your skin needs emergency care or is typically quite dry, I highly recommend this product. After testing this we immediately purchased four more in order to get our dry-skinned family through the winter months.

I live in an unforgiving northern climate with cold, windy conditions that prevail much of the year. I have long struggled with dry skin and Dermatitis. After trying several other products, I decided to spend the extra money and buy this product. It surpassed all my expectations. I am now on jar # 2 and continue to have positive results. The product is thick but not sticky and absorbs quickly into my skin. This allows for tactile-sensitive actions such as shoe tying shorty after applying the product. My use of the product has correlated with less use of the prescription strength skin cream that I used to alleviate Dermatitis. I highly recommend to anybody with dry skin

My friend is on 2nd baby, due in 2 momths. She couldn't find a good cream for her stretching stomach like she had during the last pregnancy. Since I like Burt's Bees products, gave this a try. She loves it. Says it is thick and creamy, but not sticky and really soaks in. Some butters seems to disappear into nothing with no effect, but not this one.

5.0 out of 5 stars Keeps skin moisturized and soft!, October 7, 2010

Two of my children are African American and I just didn't believe that vaseline is the *only* thing that could be used on their skin. We loved Eucerin but I wanted to try something more natural and this is *IT*! No more looking for the perfect moisturizer, we've found it! We only need to need to use it 1x a day (although we double check 2x a day just to be sure). I could not be happier with how soft and moisturized it makes their skin. Fantastic stuff!

3.0 out of 5 stars Good Moisturizer If You Can Tolerate Waxiness, October 16, 2006

So...the smell is wonderful, the results probably great, but I have a hard time using it because I don't like it smearing on everything.

The ingredients are: water, sunflower oil, stearic acid, vegetable glycerin, beeswax, sesame seed oil, shea butter (probably the waxy culprit), macadamia nut oil, xanthan gum, rosemary leaf oil, tocopherol, lady's mantle leaf extract, plantain leaf extract, calendula flower extract, sucrose stearate, retinyl palmiate, sodium borate, glucose oxidase, and lactoperoxidase. Obviously, all of the ingredients are exceptionaly, natural, and, as Burt's Bees says, "98.65% Natural".

I normally love all Burt's Bees products, but this one is hard to use, and thus, hard to love, despite the wonderful smell and terrific ingredients.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nice, manly-type body creme.....ladies, too !, September 22, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Burt's Bees Cocoa & Macadamia Nut Body Butter, 6.6-Ounce Jar (Health and Beauty)
This creme is a guy's delight. Here's what I like about it:

(1 It goes on easy. I don't have to rub it into the skin for long. It is absorbed by the skin quickly.

(2 It leaves no greasy residue.

(3 It softens rough, dry areas beyond expectations. Elbows become smooth immediately.

(4 It feels great and smells good. It has a soft, nutty aroma. It is not your typical, little-old-lady perfume smell. Still, the scent should have appeal for the ladies. It is not overpoweringly masculine in scent. It is a kind of neutral aroma -- fresh and appealing.

(5 It is not a quick fix. It has a long lasting effect on dry areas of skin. You will notice that affected areas remain smoother for days on end after an application.

This creme is a steal at the price. I have to give it 5 stars.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Miracle!!, July 23, 2011

This review is from: Burt's Bees Cocoa & Macadamia Nut Body Butter, 6.6-Ounce Jar (Health and Beauty)
I have had severe keratosis pilaris for almost ten years on my upper arms and on the backs of my legs. I have tried numerous products--prescriptions, herbal remedies, and many kinds of lotions--and I have had little, if any, positive results. About a month ago, my mother told me about Burt's Bees and their line of natural products. After trying their Res-Q ointment (which is AMAZING!!), I decided to give their macadamia nut body butter, which is their "richest body butter", a try...within less than a month, I have already begun to see significant improvements on my arms and legs! A month! Thank you, Burt's Bees!!

The Positives:
-This body butter has a very subtle, nearly unnoticeable, scent.
-It is very easy to apply: It comes out very thick, but it almost 'liquefies' when you start spreading it on your skin.
-Once a day is enough...it feels like an all day moisturizer.
-After only a few days of use, my skin feels amazingly smooth and soft.

The Negatives:
-It takes a long time to soak in completely. For a couple of hours after I apply it, I can still feel a layer of it on my skin. It is a bit greasy, so I learned to put it on before going to bed and let it soak in while I sleep.

All in all, this is an incredible product and I am now a lifelong fan of Burt's Bees!
