"Bury the Hatchet", the fourth major Cranberries CD, is a unique look into their music. It demands several listenings, before it can be appreciated. The music is truly different, not only from other artists, but from previous Cranberries albums as well. It's not that The Cranberries have taken a musical 180, its just that their presentations have changed. Completely secure in their ablilties, they do not seek to fit an image, and this album proves it! Don't get me wrong though, this is a really good album. Power songs like "Promises" back against the beautiful "Shattered". The album is worth getting just to hear Dolores O'Riordan-Burton's incredible and beautiful voice! It sends chills running everywhere, and is completely her own. At first, you may not completely love it if you are not a die hard Cranberries fan...but be patient, the music is worth it!

This album makes me proud that I stuck by the Cranberries when critics and so called 'fans' blasted the band after its previous album: To The Faithful Departed. Honestly, that album isn't their best album but you can't call it bad. Bury the Hatchet on the other hand is top quality.It reminds me of the much loved first album,which is my favourite. Just slighty not as high standard. Animal Instinct, Just My Imagination and My Saving Grace particularly refreshes my memory. If you like the first two albums. I urge you to buy this.

First of all, I am a huge cranberries fan. This CD, I think, is their best work yet. It's lighter than their last two albums, and Dolores includes a touching song to her son Taylor. The last song, "Dying in the Sun," doesn't sound like a cranberries song, but it is a great song. I appreciated this album even more after seeing them live. Dolores has such a great voice that really comes through in this album.

Even though the early work of the cranberries is some of the best music ever seen by the pop scene, "Bury The Hatchet" prooves to be the best yet. Them album opens with the catchy "Animal Instinct", a song about a new mother's feeling for her baby son. Other tunes on BTH that will surely become some of your favorites are "You and Me" which sounds something like a lullabye with a beat, "Just My Imagination" is the band's latest single, and "Dying In The Sun" where the lead singer Miss Dolores O'Riordan-Burton finally shows off her vocal range. The cranberries rock the free world!

I absolutely love the Cranberries! This is the album that my friend played for me, and i was hooked! This album combines hard rock tunes, soft rock, and a completely incredible slow song that blew me away!( Dying in the Sun.) If you are lookinf for an album worth your money,Bury The Hatchet can satisfy everyone.

I consider The Cranberries to be one of my favorite groups and I thoroughly enjoy all of their albums. And, I consider "Bury the Hatchet" to be their best effort after "Everybody Else...". What bothered me about their last album and not so much their second album was the rather gloomy songs and lyrics. "Bury The Hatchet" is a lot more upbeat, lyrically, and a lot of fun to listen to. I recommend this CD to anyone who liked The Cranberries when they were really popular a few years back but kind of lost track of them and to Cranberries fans alike. This is a great album that would compliment anybody's music collection. Buy it and you won't be disappointed!

The reviews you see above range from one star to 5 stars and you are probably wondering which people to believe. The truth is, I love the albumn, but i dont think it is for everyone. For those of you who like the harder and very soft stuff would probably not enjoy it as much. If you like the midtempo stuff, however, you will LOVE the albumn. Although there are hard songs ("Promises") and soft ones ("Dying in the Sun") on it, it is dominiated by midtempo stuff. The songs follow the style of "Dreams", "Sunday", "Dissappointment", and the like. If you were remotely satisfied with the other albumns, give Bury the Hatchet a try. Hey, half the people in this poll thought it was excellent.

I've been a Cranberries fan since the days of "Everyone else is doing it, so why can't we?" and from then onward.

While the first two efforts were outstanding, I felt that the group began to drift in a different, not bad, just different direction for their follow up to "No Need To Argue" titled "To The Faithful Departed."

While they kept the clever creativity in titles, and phrases, nothing seemed to spark me as much as it did in the past, until the release of their fourth album simply titled "Bury The Hatchet."

At first listen to the beginning strums of the guitar in the light-rock edged "Animal Instinct" till the very last piano key hit on "Dying In The Sun", the album in my personal opinion is an amazing journey, and their best effort to this date. However, they have slowed down some, meaning, you won't find political moving statements such as "Zombie", or the tearful heartwrenching emotion such as in "Dreams", but it is still addicting none-the-less. And who says, those who have moved audinences many times before in the past don't deserve to have a good day every now and then? Delores has been through a lot in her life, and for once, its nice to hear the change in music and hear her sing not only about the bad in her life and for the freedom of her country, but now she also sings about her good days too...and for those who can't accept it and just realize that The Cranberries are all about the music, then I feel sorry for you, you shouldn't be so hard on her, because in all honesty, you don't even have to be a hardcore fan (which I am) to enjoy this album. Its just plain and simple, amazing music with a good message that rocks!

In 1999 The Cranberries reunited after three years off the road to release this album, Bury the Hatchet. They had experienced much trauma in the spotlight and needed time to rethink their careers. A fresh and new sound came out of the recordings for Bury the Hatchet and some of their greatest songs' lay on this album.

As always the Crans switch up their style with some songs that are simply brand new to the ear. Lead singer Dolores O'Riordan tests her vocals out on the powerful and angry "Delilah", one of the lead tracks. Her voice sounds quite different on this track than it ever had before. "Copycat" is another enjoyable track, it might be repitive for some but it really does describe the music scene of the present. This song also is a very different sound for the Crans. But believe me they still hold onto their classic sound on songs like "What's On My Mind" and "Saving Grace".

The slower songs as well as the up-tempo ones really give this album a brand new feel. The only thing I find wrong with it is that this amazon.com version does not include "Sorry Son" which is a breezy track that was included on other versions in the U.S.

After listening to the first five songs on this CD, you'll definitely want to buy it. Not that the rest is bad, but "Animal Instinct", "Promises", "You and Me", and "Just my imagination" are so good that they alone make this CD worth it.

Aside from that, the versatility shown in these few songs is awesome. Tracks 3, 4, and 5, though juxtaposed, are unbelievably different; the first of these (Promises) showing angriness and power, reminiscent of "Ridiculous Thoughts", but superior; the second (You and Me) being a delightful, sublime love song, as good as I've heard in a while; and the last (Just My Imagination) having a light, happy mood. And still, they are all awesome songs.

So, bottom line, this CD is definitely worth it.
