YES, BUSH MUST GO!!!!!!!,
By
This review is from: Bush Must Go (Hardcover)
A well-researched and very informative book that outlines the reasons why we as Americans are obligated to remove Bush from the White House. If anyone, after carefully reading this book, still votes for George Bush then they care not at all about the future of this country. He has lied incessantly, done nothing for the environment, has made us LESS safe from terror attacks, and so on. If you do not believe me, then read the book. The author can explain these truths much better than can I. (...)

If you only read one book before the 2004 election . . .,

This review is from: Bush Must Go (Hardcover)
If you only read one book before the 2004 election, make it BUSH MUST GO: THE TOP TEN REASONS WHY GEORGE BUSH DOESN'T DESERVE A SECOND TERM by Bill Press. In the past year or so Richard Clarke, Paul O'Neill, Bob Woodward and many other Washington D.C. insiders and journalists have published books telling the truth about the George W. Bush administration. BUST MUST GO offers a concise summary of what the public needs to understand. If you don't believe what author Press says in BUSH MUST GO, examine the record yourself and share your findings here. Just please don't write a review complaining about Bill Clinton. I understand that there are many people who still support the man elected president in 2000. Unfortunately for them, Al Gore isn't running this year. Read BUSH MUST GO. Then vote on November 2, 2004. (Not registered to vote, or unsure of it? Go to www.rockthevote.com.)

A response to twinndraggons review.,

This review is from: Bush Must Go (Hardcover)
Bush stated recently it mattered not what information he had at hand or whether it was erroneous or not. He's now saying he would have gone to war in Iraq anyway. So good intellignece info or not he was determined to go to war, period. Not to mention the fact that he has changed his justification for going to war at least four times that I can remember. The Republican party had Hussein targeted for a hit long before 9-11. Revisit the 2000 Republican campaign ads where they state clearly that the US should not have to buy oil from a dictator like Hussein. 9-11 was merely their opportunity to go in. Ossama Bin Laden may have masterminded the 9-11 attacks but Bi Laden doesn't directly control oil fields does he? Bush has also said there will be an oversight contingent staying in Iraq after the Iraqi's take control to assure the continued oil production. If it's not about oil and it's not about WMD's then the reason has to be to make up for his daddy's mishandling of Desert Storm when George Herbert Walker let Hussein off the hook much to the dismay of Marines in Iraq at the time. Just how many more lives have to be needlessly sacrificed for the egos of the Bushes?

A Bush Referendum,
By
This review is from: Bush Must Go (Hardcover)
Bush's book, as the title reflects, takes the position that a U.S. president running for reelection is subject to a referendum in which he is judged basically by how Americans evaluate his performance rather than a careful analysis between candidates A and B, incumbent and challenger.Press, a former Democratic Party chairman from California and latterly television political commentator, opposite Robert Novak on CNN's Crossfire at one juncture and latterly Pat Buchanan's jousting partner on MSNBC, has experts who agree with him. Kevin Phillips, for one, has stated that the reason why most elections involving presidential incumbents are decided by 10-point margins or better is that voters are essentially voting a chief executive up or down on their perception of performance. A positive rating will hence result in an impressive victory margin while negative evaluations eventuate in solid defeats. While Franklin Delano Roosevelt and Ronald Reagan are both renowned as popular vote getters, it must be remembered that the former benefited from Depression circumstances in trouncing Herbert Hoover while the latter profited from an existing oil embargo, energy shortage, and hostage crisis to post an impressive triumph over Jimmy Carter. Having concluded that the election is more of a checklist evaluating George Bush on the major issues confronting him in four years of office, rather than a basic comparison involving Bush and rival John Kerry, Press cites the reasons why he believes the incumbent should be rejected. He cites the rush to war as one major factor, pointing out that the reasons Bush provided for going to war, imminent danger due to Saddam Hussein possessing weapons of mass destruction and a putative link between the Iraqi dictator and Al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden, were never proven. Press notes that it will take a long time for the United States to repair its damaged international image and posture vis-à-vis its allies as a result of Bush's rush to war. Press gives Bush a failing grade for his stewardship over the U.S. economy. He notes that the Bush tax cuts stacked overwhelmingly in the favor of wealthy Americans have resulted in tremendous budget shortfalls. Press contrasts the Clinton baton handoff to his successor in which the country had a healthy surplus and now, lamenting its squandering by Bush and resulting oppressive debt that puts the nation in a precarious economic position. Another area where Press sharply criticizes Bush is in the appointment of John Ashcroft, former right wing Missouri senator, as attorney general. Press labels Ashcroft as an extremist who, in the name of fighting terror, succeeded in securing congressional passage of the Patriot Act, which sharply curtails valuable constitutional liberties. He believes that Bush and his advisers, based on Ashcroft's track record, should have rejected him out of hand as a possibility for the role of America's leading law enforcement official.

Bill Press Does it Again,

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Bush Must Go (Hardcover)
Bush Must Go is a well-researched analysis of George "W" Bush. Mr. Press chronicles what "W" said and what he says NOW. The contrast can't be more striking, his public statements in justification for going to war with Iraq to the facts as we now know them. His taking the United States from a position of trust and respect in 2000 to a place where in October 2003 53% of Europeans saw the United States as a threat on par with the likes of North Korea and Iran.Bill's writing is, as always, very accessible and a delight to read. Let's just hope people LISTEN!

Bush is the worst President ever!!!,
By Uncle Elmer "tod3" (USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Bush Must Go (Hardcover)
George W. Bush is shown by Bill Press to be the worst President this country has ever had and should be voted out of office this November with not a second thought.Bill Press outlines all of his reasons in his book but certainly Bush/Cheney getting us into this fiasco in Iraq should be reason enough. How many lives were premenantly altered by this war that was fought for reasons that were proven false. There were no weapons of mass destruction. Iraq wasn't involved with Bin Laden. Yet, aside from Michael Moore and publications like Mother Jones, the sleepy press sits by and gives Bush/Cheney pass after pass after pass. In the end, as Bill Press has so well articulated in his book this election is amounting to one of the most significant ones in the history of our country. As Bill has noted, we cannot afford more of Bush and he must be voted out of office for our country cannot endure anymore leadership of these right wing ideologues.

just the facts ma'am...,
By Alex Tavares (Bronx, NY) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Bush Must Go (Hardcover)
This book is a great read, and puts the Bush presidency under the microscope. Just the facts ma'am. You can't argue with them, you can only choose to remain willfully ignorant or you can put your country first and do the right thing: Vote Bush out. This election is a referendum on Bush, period. This book highlights the top ten reasons why Bush is a failure, although Bill Press could make a top 30 list and still have room for a nice epilouge.

Perfect Book For The Fence-Sitters,
By cameron-vale "cameron-vale" (Seattle, WA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Bush Must Go (Hardcover)
Recent polls have shown that a surprising percentage of registered voters are undecided about who they will vote for in the upcoming presidential election. BUSH MUST GO is a handy corrective for these fence-sitters. Most of the hundred or so anti-Bush, pro-America books out there take a broad look at what makes Dumbya a truly terrible president, but Bill Press has decided to narrow the scope and focus exclusively on the ten most important reasons why this stumbling buffoon must be evicted from the White House. Concise but extremely informative chapters are devoted to, among other topics, the floundering economy, the unnecessary and obscenely expensive Iraq War, Bush's horrific assault on the environment, and Homeland Security (or lack of it). There is nothing new here, of course, but Press provides easy access to all the shocking facts in a well written, superbly documented manner that will surely convince anyone who didn't already know it that Bush must indeed go.

This is the book I needed!,
By Book Mom (Maryland) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Bush Must Go (Hardcover)
If you are looking for a clear, concise, no-nonsense book that explains why Bush is a terrible president with FACTS, not opinion, this is THE ONE to get! While all of Press's points are great, I really appreciate the chapter on Bush's budget deficit the most. Press gives me the numbers I need (and have now memorized) to tell others just how fiscally irresponsible Bush has been - how in four years he has managed to go from being handed a *surplus* of more than a $100 billion dollars from the Clinton administration to a projected 2005 deficit of $520 billion!! And NO, critics, it's not because of the war, and Press explains that in a very straight forward way, as well. This book should be required reading for all registered voters.

Without a doubt the most dangerous administration ever!,
This review is from: Bush Must Go (Hardcover)
This book by Bill Press was a major eye-opener into the criminal tactics that have been pulled off by the Bush administration in the nearly four years after being selected by the Supreme Court in November of 2000.
The things I've read in this book really shocked me immensely especailly with the Patriot Act (George Orwell is rolling in his grave or crying in his current lifetime) and what it's really about, the crony capitalism that is rampant in our country, the assault that has been waged against the environment, but on top of it all, the despicable act of going to war in Iraq based on a pack of lies. I never knew that in fact Saddam Hussein and Osama Bin Laden actually hated each other immensely but this book tells the facts that completely destroy the rationale of Iraq being connected to the events of September 11. It also gives background into some of the top officials in office right now which are absolutely alarming and sickening. Even when we vote them out of office, this book should still be read as a reminder of just what the results may be when we let crooks sneak their way into power and doing nothing about it. I ask everyone from all over the political spectrum to go and buy this book today. You couldn't get a better fact-finder than this. |
