Lesbian love & desire were never so hot!, August 23, 1998
This review is from: Bushfire: Stories of Lesbian Desire (Lace Publications) (Paperback)
This is a book which allows for fantasy & heightened desire. It's well written, with stories that can be read & enjoyed with a partner, without either of you falling asleep afterward. A good book to set in the nightstand drawer for that special time together.

I bought this book because Tee A. Corinne in her anthology `The Body of Love' called it "hip, hot and fun" also saying the editor pushes "behavioral and perceptual boundaries".
From the back of the book - Sometimes intensely sexual, other times subtly romantic, these short stories celebrate lesbian desire in all its forms.
"Not only is the sex frank, but the general spirit is one of reckless adventure -- always good for vicarious thrills". - Voice Literary Supplement
Publisher's Note - Amidst our differences, all lesbians share one thing: a desire for women. Whether intensely sexual, or subtly romantic, this emotion is always incredibly powerful. These short stories celebrate lesbian desire in all its forms.

Hot collection with some strong narrators, August 27, 2006
This review is from: Bushfire: Stories of Lesbian Desire (Lace Publications) (Paperback)
I was most attracted to the stories in this collection that are narrated by working-class and/or butch women. These were a pleasant contrast to some of the more lyrical, femme-femme stories, whose sentimentality tended to leave me bored. The plain-talking narrators of _Bushfire_ -- including some women of color -- are by far the most memorable.
In general, I would recommend this collection for the diversity of its writing styles and points of view. My only real complaint is about one of the collection's running themes: the protagonist admires someone, wonders if she's into women, and then waits until the woman magically gropes or otherwise propositions her. We need more point-of-view lesbian characters who know how to be assertive!
