5.0 out of 5 stars This is the best fighting game around.
I bought Bushido Blade 2 because I thought it would be the same as the first with a few new options and nifty new graphics. Boy was I wrong. They kept the concept of the original but gave it all new moves, 22 playable characters, and beautiful animation. With all it's stages and many weapons to master, this game still provides a ton of fun just as it did when I got it...

3.0 out of 5 stars Mediocre at best
Bushido Blade 2 is fun, with a realistic fighting system and easy control functions, but at this stage in the world of video games, it just doesnt measure up.
There is very little storywise, which is a shame because with one it could have been a great game. The character dialouge is possibly the worst ever written...and not even some very good (and fairly well...

With all it's stages and many weapons to master, this game still provides a ton of fun just as it did when I got it a year ago. Every one of my friends who played it are now heavily addicted and we've all developed in depth fighting strategies to use on one another. Contrary to what some might say, there is little luck involved in the one hit kill system of this game. Skill and timing always defeat luck.

5.0 out of 5 stars Swordplay at it's Best, December 24, 1999

Bushido Blade 2 is a very realistic sword/spear 1 or 2 player fighting game set in 3d environments. As you may or may not know, when you get struck with a weapon in this game it either paralyses an arm, slows you down or kills you outright! This can make for some VERY tense moments. In the single player 'slash' mode for example, you have to defeat 100 opponents consecutively without being killed, each opponent becoming more aggressive and skilled than the last! There are a total of 21 characters all of which have a different level of ability with the different weapons. The weapons available are; Naginata(halberd), Katana(samurai sword), Nodachi(BIG samurai sword), Long Sword, Broadsword, Yari(spear)

To anyone who is a fan of samurai films/games (TENCHU, BUSHIDO BLADE1) I would say 'get this game, you will definitely enjoy it' and to anyone else.... 'get it and you will learn to enjoy it' After all what game can offer such life&death close combat!

I've had this game for a year now and will never tire of playing it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Finally a realistic fighting game., July 30, 2000

What may turn some gamers off from this game could be it's best feature, it's so realistic. Unlike the other games out there theat deal with more fantasy then true fighting, this game is all about not getting hit, and the true art of weapons. Finally a game where only one fatal blow can end it, making defense almost more important then offense. The First bushido blade was a classic and this is not far from that. A wide range of characters, along with different styles and individual story lines gives the lucky gamer hours, days, weeks, etc. of great fighting fun. you master this game then your a true master.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Game!, July 4, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Bushido Blade 2 (Video Game)
This game was great, but there were some flaws: 1st was I hated how you had to return to your stance after you struck, this could get you killed. 2nd Some of the physics were messed up, like if the computer threw their sub-weapon, and it would hit your knee as you were trying to jump, it kills you..., or it hits you in the foot you die. 3rd To few weapons, the first had better weapons, like the hammer. Other than those reasons this game was great, it's much better that games with life meters and timers and super-move meters. Plus being able to cut down the background was fun.

4.0 out of 5 stars loses charm of original but still fun to play., June 22, 2000

I thoroughly enjoyed Bushido Blades sense of discipline and honor. I wanted to break free from the lame fighting games that are all too much alike. Bushido Blade let me experience the japanese fighting techniques and honor system. I expected this and more in bushido blade2 but was slightly dissapointed.

In BB2, the single player mode sets you in fighting stages with a wide range of sizes. You then proceed to fight a swarm of horribly easy soldiers and then a duel with a single opponent at the end(reminds me of sappy fighting movies). One then moves through these very repetitive levels to face a "boss" which is more a puzzle than combat.

The wide selection of characters and weapons is impressive but some of the characters are outright embarrasing. I find this game to be satisfying overall and it is a source of good fun but the lack of heart depresses me. I would reccomend trying both the original and this and finding for yourself.

This is really the coolest, and funnest fighting game on Play Station. The characters look cool, and there is a great choice of weapons. With its very good grafics, would say it deserves 5 stars.

4.0 out of 5 stars misunderstood, December 19, 1999

Bushido Blade 2 is a misunderstood game. It took some time to find out all the moves and such, but it was a worthwile quest. On the surface, it does look a little dull, until you realize that's because this a fighting game where there is no defense at all, just a good offense. Yeah, the special guys are hard to get (You have to make it through the game without getting killed) and there are no real cheat codes that can be used. Just play, and savagery. As a fighting game, the Vs. setting can allow fo as many as 100 or more matches per hour, and the load time really isn't bad. All it takes is a little exploration, that's all!

This game is so awsome. (only if you like slashing people in half and shooting people.) The graphics were a little shakey, but that doesnt take any of the fun out of it. It has many characters in it and if has four characters that are secret. There are also many weapons you can chose from. tHE TWO PLAYER mode is so awsome. once i rented this game i bought it as soon as possible

5.0 out of 5 stars More subtle than flash. A fighting game with essence, May 30, 2000

= Durability:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:5.0 out of 5 stars

This game will not be for everyone. If Big flashy special moves with fireballs and explosions are your thing, you will not find this game interesting.

But if you want a truly challenging fighter that will keep you occupied for hours learning the subtleties of the combat system and the strengths and weaknesses of weapons and stances, this is a good game for you.

Detailing the war between two ficticious ninja assassin schools you choose one of the characters and fight through your mission. There are 6 characters to start with but a total of 16 when you unlock all the storyline characters. Each has weapons that they are better with, and their own unique special moves. The graphics are very nice, and the sound is good if a bit repetitive. The dialogue loses a bit in the translation from Japanese, but no worse than a lot of other fighting games that I've seen.

If you like movies like The Seven Samurai, RAN, Yojimbo, Heaven and Earth, Sanjuro, Sure Death, or other similar titles; or if you're a fan of Lone Wolf and Cub, Young Master, Usagi Yojimbo, or any of the Legend of the Five Rings products you will probably find this an interesting game.

I personally have played Bushido Blade and Bushido Blade 2 more than any of my other Playstation games over the years. And I don't like fighting games, normally, but the flavor and essence of this game have won me over.
