How Bushnell's Laser Rangefinders Work
Bushnell's laser rangefinders use an invisible, eye-safe Class 1 laser beam (as classified by the FDA), which is "bounced" off distant objects at the press of a button. In the process, the rangefinder uses a high-speed digital clock to measure the time it took for the laser beam to reach the target and return, and then calculates the distance within plus-or-minus 1 yard. The entire process is so fast that less than a second elapses between the time you press the button and the time the exact range appears. The information appears on the unit's through-the-lens LCD display.
Because rangefinders bounce laser beams off targets in order to take measurements, their range is partially determined by the target's reflectivity. So distances to reflective or "hard" targets like rock cliffs and semis can be measured from farther away than those to soft-surface targets such as deer. Ranges for moderately reflective targets, like trees, fall somewhere in the middle. Most experienced hunters will use their rangefinder to estimate ranges to near and distant landmarks before they actually encounter a game animal. By pre-measuring ranges to spots where trophies are likely to appear, they can concentrate on making an accurate shot when the moment of truth arrives.

Bought as a gift, this does everything the receiver wants like measuring for practical things like fencing, water pipes etc. & for his sport shooting. Easy to handle & operate, works perfectly & the bonus carry case makes it easy to carry around & ensures he doesn't put it down & leave it somewhere. Additional benefit of a much cheaper price than in Australia. Great gadget!

i use it when u go hunting with my muzzleloader, i like to travel light so this is perfect, its compact and it does exactly what it says! nothing less!

Good for hunting only,

I bought this Bushnell with the purpose of mainly golf but also hunting. For hunting it works great but i would not suggest buying this if golf is your main purpose. It does not lock onto the flag stick very good past 200 yards and doesnt have the feature of continous reading. For example i have a Callaway Nikon that will read different spots for up to 5 seconds so you can have an unsteady hand and still hit the flagstick. With the Bushnell this feature isnt available
