Amazon.com

Bushnell Natureview birding series binoculars combine outstanding optical quality with rugged construction that can stand up to wilderness and field use. Thanks to BaK-4 prisms and fully multi-coated optics, all Natureview binoculars provide high-level image clarity and brightness for near and far views. The 10x42 Natureview Plus Binoculars offer 10x magnification with a roof prism optical system that reduces the overall weight of the binoculars while adding to their sturdiness. The binoculars have 42-millimeter objective lenses for increased light-gathering capabilities at twilight hours. Thanks to O-ring seals and nitrogen purging--the Natureview Plus Binoculars are 100 percent water and fog proof. These binoculars can withstand complete immersion in water without compromising the optics. In addition the interior surfaces will never fog-up due to rapid temperature change or humidity. Additional field and user friendly details include extended eye relief for greater user comfort, a rugged, shock-absorbing non-slip exterior for a secure grip and to protect the optics, and a textured center focus knob for precise adjustments. Bushnell Natureview Plus Binoculars carry a limited lifetime warranty against defects in materials and workmanship for the original owner.

About Roof Prism Binoculars:
The prism system of a binocular reduces the size needed to contain a long optical path and turns what would be an upside-down image right-side-up. In roof prism binoculars, the prisms overlap closely, allowing the objective lenses to line up directly with the eyepiece. The result is a slim, streamlined shape in which the lenses and prisms are in a straight line. Roof prism binoculars are less bulky and more rugged than an equivalent porro model.

Product Description

10x42mm Outstanding optical performance in a trim, well balanced roof prism design. The most rare and remarkable species are also those most specifically adapted to their environment. Conversely, to see them all, you and your optics have to be remarkably versatile. Our Natureview® binoculars thrive in virtually any setting, offering bright, crisp views of your quarry near and far. Fully multi-coated optics and excellent close-focus capabilities for short-range viewing help you catalog every detail. Extended eye relief makes long glassing sessions comfortable. They’re a natural selection for wherever your next excursion takes you.

1.0 out of 5 stars Big is not better., February 5, 2010
This review is from: Bushnell 10 x 42 Natureview Plus Binocular (Sports)
These binocs are too heavy for birding. You need something lighter and with a wider field of view. The optics on these are just average. I tried to mount them onto a chest strap and the flange broke off. Now I cannot even use a neck strap, so I am stuck with trying to get them onto a tripod, but I cannot find a tripod adaptor that fits. Also the eyepieces easily screw off the binocs if you are not careful, and you will have a devil of a time trying to get them to work properly if that happens-the inside pin that keeps them in place broke off very easily. Cheap construction all around. And to make matters worse, they did not come with caps to cover the front lenses. Good luck on finding caps that fit. For birding and routine field work I recommend 6.5x32 or similar sized binocs of better quality. I bought Vortex Fury 6.5x32 binocs for about twice the price of these and am much happier with the replacement. These will go to Goodwill.

I did a lot of research (it was quite agonizing, to be honest) and finally settled on this product. I am very glad I did. I bought these to watch and identify birds. The binoculars are very easy to adjust and I can see small details very well. I don't know much about binoculars, but I bought my son a pair of Eagle Opitics 10x21 and it was VERY hard to see out of them~ mainly because your peripheral vision was extremely limited. I don't know how anyone would ever be happy with a 21mm binoculars- especially when they are magnified at 10! Unless you are pointed right at your target, it is hard to find what you are looking for. The Natureview binoculars with the 42mm give you a wide scope of vision. It is easy to search the yard and quickly adjust the vision when you find your target. I am very pleased with the decision to buy this product.

4.0 out of 5 stars Worked great for what I needed, April 4, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Bushnell 10 x 42 Natureview Plus Binocular (Sports)
I wanted a decent pair of binoculars with which to view the last launch of Space Shuttle Discovery. Luckily, I found an article online discussing this exact topic. It made several suggestions in different price ranges, and I went with this one. I was a little worried that it would be shakey to see much, but didn't want to spend the money for a model with shake correction. But it worked out fine--I was able to get a very clear view of the launchpad and the shuttle, and was able to follow its trajectory almost until it disappeared into space. Was also able to get a clear view of the booster rockets separating and falling. So, they worked for what I needed. Now I have a decent pair of binoculars for future uses as well. My only complaint is that the lens caps it comes with fall off so easily as to be almost useless.
