I purchased a pair of these for my wife (and I) to enjoy our backyard birding more. The binoculars that I had were 10x also but could not focus close enough to enjoy watching the birds on the feeding stations nearest to our house. These Bushnell 24-3610 binoculars have a minimum focus distance of 5.5 feet! And still give 10x magnification! The 36mm objective lense (the large front lense) allows plenty of light for bird watching and being able to magnify the birds 10x from our nearby feeding stations is a special treat. My Mother (also a bird watcher) tried them and liked them so well that I have ordered a second pair for her birthday. They are also water/fog proof and can be quickly focused on a subject. The compact size also makes them light weight to wear for extended periods around the neck. Light weight, compact size, close focuse distance capability and plenty of light from the 36mm objective lens makes these a very nice general purpose set of binoculars and very well suited to bird watching.
