5.0 out of 5 stars Scope boresight
Great tool. It does't get any easier than this, to install and use. Great quality, even comes with a swade baggy to keep it in. No need to put your firearm in a mount or precisely level it. Just stick it on the end of your barrel a line it with your scope(by sliding it up or down), it doesn;t even have to be perfect to do it's job. Look through your scope and adjust...

2.0 out of 5 stars The idea is great, but its execution is flawed
Doesn't work at all on any of my scoped black rifles, mostly because the magnet leg of the unit is far too short to get the boresight anywhere close up to the proper height in order to co-witness through the unit using the scope. At best all I can get is roughly the top half of boresight into view through the scopes. It's made even more impossible to use on a couple of...

Look through your scope and adjust windage... and your done.

I thought my rifle was right on the money after wasting a ton of ammo at the range sighting it in. This tool showed I was off by just a little, but every little bit help.

Tool works great for boresighting scopes(red dot or cross hairs). It will not work if you're trying to sight in a laser or any other device other than a mounted scope.

Bushnell Magnetic Boresighter this bore sighter works well. The magnet is strong and does not need additional support. It is also reproducible. I can highly reccommend it.

4.0 out of 5 stars I like it!, March 29, 2010

Used the Bush Mag Boresight to sight in my Savage .17 HMR wrearing Muller ATP 4.5-14x40 glass and a Marlin 60 with a Bush Rimmfire scope.Worked as averitised stick it on the barrel line up the crosshairs and bang 4 in left and 2 low on the paber at 50yds.Be aware the magnet is very strong! And I put some tape over it to protect the barrel. The tape also adds friction to help stop the boresight from tipping left to right. If u are trully anal (like me)u can use a small level to make sure the sight is prefectly perpendicular(sp).I havent tried with iron sight but I think its great so far.

5.0 out of 5 stars Pleased Hunter, November 22, 2009

The Bushnell Magnetic Boresighter is the item to have and is easy to use and to carry. If you have written down your setting after sighting in your scope you can check your scope in the field anytime to make sure your scope is still @ zero.
Good hunters always check their scope before hunting. Using the Bushnell Magnetic Boresighter you can without having to shoot the rifle, if you have recorded the setting.

Doesn't work at all on any of my scoped black rifles, mostly because the magnet leg of the unit is far too short to get the boresight anywhere close up to the proper height in order to co-witness through the unit using the scope. At best all I can get is roughly the top half of boresight into view through the scopes. It's made even more impossible to use on a couple of rifles that have added riser mounts that are used to make their particular scopes more comfortable to sight through for me; there all I can see through the scopes is the top of the Bushnell itself.

As for the quality of the unit itself: from my experiences with it the magnet itself doesn't seem near strong enough to keep itself firmly in place; a marked, sliding lock-down barrel arbor insert would have worked better at stabilizing the Bushnell into a fixed, repeatable position that can be used consistently time and time again. When sighting the optical scope mounted to my S&W pistol, this boresight constantly shifted position whenever the gun was moved even the smallest amount, either sliding down, shifting side-to-side and/or moving rotationally off vertical. The same thing occurred as I was trying to use this to sight the red dot mounted on my Glock. In the end I just gave up and reached into my bag for my laser boresight instead.

Perhaps with bolt-action shooters this thing works great, but for me and what I wanted it for this unit goes back to Amazon as a failed experiment.

This magnetic boresighter has nothing to keep it centered. Just picking the gun up and holding it will cause it to slide around on the end the barrel. Also it is hard to determine exactly where to position the boresighter on the barrel for correct height. I guess you just eyeball it. I will give an update after I take the rifle to the range. Maybe I will be pleasantly surprised but if I were going to buy a boresighter it would be a unit that actually fits in the bore.

OK but not great, optics are off more than what should be expected from Bushnell. Sighted-in scope centers off to left by one complete unit which at a hundred yards would be equivalent to at least 20 clicks on the rifle scopes adjustment or in other words about 5". Not Great!

5.0 out of 5 stars magnetic bore sight, November 7, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)

I bought this because I thought my scope was not mounted right at the gun shop. It was off by about an inch. At a hundred yards the is a big difference. It is very easy to use user friendly A fast and easy way to check your bore sight at the range or while hunting. I would recommend this to any one.

It's Ok. Not 100% perfect but will put you on the paper. Bore sighter is top heavy when mounted to small caliber guns and needs to have some kind of retaining clip to keep it in place to keep it from spinning while trying to sight in.
