Awesome set for such a great price!,
By Mike in Indiana "Michael" (Indianapolis, IN) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Bushnell 7x 35mm Wide Angle Perma Focus Binocular (Electronics)
Not all of the Permafocus Binoculars are this good, but these are fantastic. If you tire easily of adjusting the focus, you won't believe your eyes when you look through these. I have used these on the lake, baseball games and on the golf course. My son dropped a pair on the concrete and misaligned one lens. Luckily I had already purchased another pair and just had to return to the car to get them. I am writing this review because I am looking to buy yet another pair.
Buy and enjoy! You'll be glad you did! Besides, for this price, what have you got to lose??

7x35 bushnell permafocus binocs,
This review is from: Bushnell 7x 35mm Wide Angle Perma Focus Binocular (Electronics)
I purchased the bushnell permafocus binocs several years ago well knowing the trade-offs involving the permafocus feature. Owning other optical equipment such as astronomical use binoculars and telescopes allows me to make an informed opinion. I'll start with the drawbacks: The optics are good but not top of the line quality by any means and because of that you'll see a significant drop-off of clarity toward the outermost edges of the field of view. Secondly, objects closer than 50' or so away are not going to be resolved with the crispness required to distinguish fine detail - bird watching or the like is not a strong point of this product. Thirdly, the permafocus is preset with a 20-20 vision focus - so if you are extensively nearsighted these binocs will not serve you well.
With that said, it is time for the advantages: The permafocus is immensely convenient in that it allows your eyes to do the focusing and not having to bother with a focusing knob - wherever you look the image will come into focus almost instantly. The field of view for this binocular is 578' @ 1000 yds - this is much more than most other binoculars - it is truly a panoramic view. The image quality is fairly clear and bright within most of it's field of view and is on par with other binoculars in it's price range and beyond. In addition, these binocs are sturdily constructed and relatively compact and light-weight. I believe the advantages of this product heavily outweigh the disadvantages - easy to use, utilitarian, expansive views and fairly good optics at a very reasonable price rates 4 stars in my estmation.

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Bushnell 7x 35mm Wide Angle Perma Focus Binocular (Electronics)
I was leary of the Perma Focus feature as I purchased these binoculars. Yet, I still bought them for my father as a gift.
My father tried them out for the first time at a basketball game. He was having diffiulty getting good focus. Like me, one of his eyes is stronger than the other. So, I explained how my Bushnell binoculars handle differences in focus between two eyes. I simply turn the diaptor adjustment ring on the individual eye piece. I was surprised that these binoculars offer no such adjustment option! I guess the "Perma Focus" is supposed to take care of that. Well, at least they work properly with 20/20 vision. So, I suggested that he use the binoculars with his glasses on. He then pointed out that these binoculars don't have the option to recess the eyecups. They are fixed as they are, making it nearly impossible to view with glasses! I then looked into the return policy---too late for that. So, I called Bushnell as I know they have excellent customer service. They suggested that I mail the brand new binoculars in for inspection and to be sure to include a $10 check for return shipping and handling. Additionally, I am responsible for the S&H to send them the defective item. Well, at least I hope they are defective and not intentionnally designed to work this way. Needless to say, I am not pleased with this product.
