Ask any trophy hunter or taxidermist, and he or she will tell you more tags are filled in the low-light hours than any other time. Enter the Bushnell Banner 4-16x40 riflescope, which is designed to excel in early morning and late evening light. With its Dusk & Dawn Brightness (DDB) multicoated lenses--which add clarity and brightness when the sun is low or under heavy cloud cover--the Banner scope adds precious minutes to every hunting day. The scope also includes an Illuminated CF 500 reticle that switches from red to green on your command (red is ideal for bright conditions, green works better when it's dim). With aiming points out to 500 yards, the reticle is optimized for center-fire rifles.

Other details include a one-piece tube design, a 100-percent waterproof and fogproof construction, 1/4 MOA fingertip resettable windage and elevation adjustments, and a fast-focus eyepiece. Whether you're gearing up for big game or little varmints, the Banner riflescope is a terrific low-light choice.

My roommate got this scope last week, and we finally went to try it. We both have two mosin nagants 91/30, so you know about the recoil on those babies. Long story short, we went through about 200 rounds per rifle, and not a single thing went wrong with that scope. All i know that after that range day, i will be picking up one myself. It has a good lens, crisp and is not blur at x16. I have been doing alot of searching for mine, but it looks like this is a best scope for the dollar that i was able to find, simple, tough, accurate. The only thing i wish it would have target turrets on it, but the scope's turrets were not an issue at all. Overall - great scope for the money that looks like will last awhile.

I wanted a decent scope for a .223 Saiga, which surprised me by its accuracy... Nothing too expensive, but nothing that was going to break in a few weeks or not hold zero. I was quite pleased with my Bushnell Powerview 8x21 compact binoculars, and read many good reviews about the Bushnell Banner series of scope. I bought this with reasonable expectations, and the Bushnell Banner 4-16x40mm Illuminated CF 500 Reticle Rifle Scope blew my expectations away. I have a Nikon 4-16x50mm Monarch on my Remington, and I was impressed at how similarly the Bushnell performed. It feels like a rock-solid build, all moving parts feel as smooth as glass on glass, the tube was perfect for my mounting hardware, and the optics... Honestly, I think the Bushnell's optics are just as good, if not a little better. The Banner CF 500 has a smaller objective lens than the Nikon Monarch, yet they're the same brightness in all of my indoor and outdoor tests. The clarity is the same, and the reticle is brighter. The only thing the Nikon excels at, is a broader eye relief (though the Bushnell still has a fair range at the lower magnifications) and the controls are just a tad more precise (I have to fine tune the Bushnell a few seconds more - though maybe it's just because it's still new to me). For the money, I think this Bushnell Banner 4-16x40mm scope is a great buy. For my purposes, I don't feel it lacks at all.

I bought this scpope to put on a marlin 17hmr and it is supurb the I took this scope out with and another in the evening to see how clear they were at dusk(the other was a nikon prostaff 3-9x50)And this scope was just as clear and almost as bright as the 240$ nikon and I was a able to see a target at 60 yards at 6:45pm which was well past the technical sunset time. I simply love this scope the illuminated reticle in it was very bight and in the evening or morning putting it on 1 was plenty (there are 5 setings for bothe green or red) I would definitelly recomend it. The only complaint I have is the dial for the illume setting must be placed just right or it wont turn on

I purchased this scope for my Ruger American .308 rifle, and it was love at first sight! Superb quality for the price, and I am getting nice groups at 300 yards. Haven't put as many rounds through it as I would like just yet, but so far so good! Bushnell never disappoints.

I just received this scope and I have to say I am impressed. I was a little skeptical hearing that most low dollar scopes above 12x magnification start to blur. Not the case with this scope. The reticle unilluminated is very crisp and defined with clear secondary range/elevation crosshairs for 150, 200, 300, & 400 yards with the center being at 100. I also like that the slightest bit of light will illuminate the reticle. The illumination of the reticle is also extremely crisp as well and only the center crosshairs along with the ranged crosses are illuminated. Not the crosses leading to the outside of the cylinder. If I had to change one thing about it, it would be to include flip-up lens covers. Other than that its very good. I will be mounting this on a 1940 91/30 Mosin Negant so we'll see how it stands up tp the recoil.

Love the Scope. But the item I received is not the same as the item pictured. I believe they added a parallax adjustment to the new model. I was actually trying to purchase a model without the parallax adjustment for simplicity sake while deer hunting. But after using the scope I don’t think it has to be adjusted for the ranges I will likely be hunting at. Very clear and great for dusk and dawn low light hours. Moving from a 3-9 to the 4-16 is a huge difference. Compared it side by side with my old 3-9, and they were identical up to 9x the difference from 9 to 16x is like moving to a scope from open sights.

I have this on my Mosin Nagant 91/30 and it's an awesome scope. For those that don't know, the Mosin Nagant uses 7.62x54r which is a slightly bigger cartridge than a .308 and it has a ton of recoil (19 ft/lbs). This holds zero with no problems, I've probably fired about 250rds with the scope zeroed in and it is still right on.

I've only been using it around 100-120yds, I'm sure it will be great at longer distances as well but given the maximum zoom is 16x I wouldn't purchase this for really long range shots given the field of view.

The green/red option on the reticle is neat. It makes the reticle slightly larger due to the glow of the red/green and therefore is more of a shorter range option if precision needs to be an issue. If you're trying to hit a bullseye at 200 yds it will cover where you're aiming, but if you're aiming for a deer's liver, you'll be fine using the color.

So far battery life has been fine, it still works even after forgetting to turn the green off over night when a friend plays around with it.

The focus ring up front is very accurate to focus on your range and can even help figure out how far away you are by finding where you are in focus.

I just helped a friend zero in a M308 4-16x scope, that is 2-3x the price of this scope, on an Armalite AR-10, I felt the Bushnell was as good quality and liked the reticle better for shorter range.

Lastly, unless you have front site posts to clear, you only need Low-Profile rings to mount this scope. The higher the rings like medium height, will only add complication to accurately zero the scope.
