Works as advertised, but watch pricing on this baby. I compulsively watched it for 3 months. It's been as high as $369 and as low as $228 (3/26/10). Make sure you don't impulse buy. I purchased at $253 on 3/17/10. Oh well....
I would recommend this product to anyone. UPDATE: $230--4/2/10. (Guess I get bored at work. LOL)

This comes with a DVD to help set it up. You can custom fit it to just about any weapon. I use a muzzle loader and it has given me perfect information. It's ability to look through bare branches and to pick a single target are great features because in a blind your movements are very limited. I was able to pre-screen my shooting area and pick out minor landmarks to have distances at the ready in case a fast moving deer moved through my area. It worked, as I was able to properly lead a fast moving buck and bring him right down. I also use it for golf. It is very powerful and very accurate.

I have been using a very old Bushnell laser rangefinder for years. You may remember the big binocular style single eyepeice model. Despite its age and years of use, this old Bushnell still gives reliable accurate service. That dependability and longevity weighed significantly on my choice to buy a Bushnell product. As with any major purchase, I tend to do a great deal of research before making a decision. The prime contender was the comparably equipped Leupold model. While the features are roughly equivalent, I had to give the edge to the Bushnell model on a couple of areas.
First, the ballistic ranges on the Bushnell seem more useful. More importantly, was the Bushnell's ease of operation. While a user can become proficient with almost any equipment with practice, the Bushnell's operation and menu's are more intuitive. Last but not least is a $100 plus difference in price. The unit arrived in pristine condition and was up and running in minutes. Field testing put the unit through it's various modes with ease. I am struck with the usefull features, clarity of optics and ease of use in such a small package. One great feature is the case with the magnetic closure. With the included lanyard attached the unit is easily and silently withdrawn and put into use, then returned just as quickly. Target aquisition is fast and accurate even at extended ranges and the ARC system is really usefull in the often steep mountainous terrain here in Arizona. The ability to select between the ballistic ranges is a great feature. As I handload for all my calibers it requires some field testing at range to determine the most correct setting for each load, but once this is done accurate ARC ranging is quick and accurate. If this unit provides the same longevity and service as my old one, and based on the apparent quality I expect it will, then the "Legend" name will be well deserved. This may well be the last rangefinder I will ever need. As an aside, I have found this unit to perform well on the golf course, and as a Civil Designer I have used this unit on mine sites to estimate slope angles and lengths.

Good optics. Easy to use. Ranged rocks/trees past 1000 yards. A good carry case with silent (magnetic) opening/closing top. Simply a good value for the money.

This rangefinder is dead on accurate. Measured out 100 yards with a nylon tape. The rangefinder was dead on. Have not used the bullet compensation yet, but I like the feature.

Like I said in my title "finally" a range finder that actually does what is advertised. I can olny speak for this model, I have owned a range finder from bushnell before, they said it was a 800yd model, ya right, LOL!!!! I have no idea where they got that perfect environment, I never found it! This one on the other hand has performed in the rain, sun, and overcast days; it hasn't made a differance on trees, rocks, or grassy hillsides. I have had readings of 1254 yards off of man made structures and 1150 yards off of a rock bluff in the rain! The small size is perfect for your average jacket pocket, the 6x is great for pinpointing at long ranges, and the rain guard is a real plus. The size makes purchasing the camo model a joke, you are buying two little patches of camo and when you hold it your covering the camo patches with your hands so you do not see it anyway. Save your money and by the black model, but overall I highly recommend this product; it has exceeded my expectations.

make your friends go holy ?*%$@#. 1000 yards all day long. many large objects trees, ditch banks, rocks, ect. are coming back 11,12 1300 yards. longest 1438 to a tree at dusk. goes without saying, lesser yardage is very easy to range. bow mode is quick and precise. 60 degress downhill tested, works awesome if youll just trust the range. bullseye mode works great and the brush mode is so dang handy if you need to punch through some obstruction. the only thing i havent tested is the bullet drop calculation in rifle mode. but there are many optionss from A-J, i think, and i have confidence i can find one that is right for my gun, and the more i mess with it i will find the settings for all my guns which can be changed wtih a quick push of the mode button. the 6x optics are really clear and i find myself useing it to scan country for deer. you can tell i like this range finder, and the reason is i had two demands, find the range and do it the first time. it works

I have always been a big fan of Bushnell products, because they make some very high quality products, but I am not at all happy with this one. The other Bushnell rangefinders I've had all outperformed what was promised. This one is a big time underachiever! I bought the 1200 ARC for its BC features and for the long range capability that I need hunting big game in Colorado and several other western states where the average range on some of these critters is in excess of 400 yards. I set it up as instructed for my caliber and was excited to use it on my antelope hunt. I didn't have an opportunity to test it in the field prior to the hunt, but on buildings, distant bushes and trees and bright, shiny objects here in the suburbs, it worked great. Big surprise when I actually got it out for my antelope hunt this week...I could not get a reading on anything past 200 yards, except a bright and shiny stock tank, a pickup truck, a water tower or some other man-made structure. If you need a long range rangefinder for hunting, you should look for a different model...because unless I just got a bad one, this one isn't going to work for you.

Haven't taken to prairie yet (been raining steady), but have played w/extensively in suburbia after familiarizing self w/features & trajectory ARCs (hence the name)of the ammo I'm using. The unit has 8 (and is limited to)pre-programmed trajectory paths for rifle (no additional variables possible, such as scope height, temp.,bar). You can find an ARC setting closest to yours by measuring your bullet drop from 100-300yrds (Winchester has awesome ballistics program u can utilize 4 this too, at - [...] ). in inches, then using chart in instructions, select A-H on menu. Afterwards, you select unit of measure (yards-meters), YOUR sight in distance (from 150-300yrds/meters), and your done! Unit displays point-of-impact in increments of inches/cm, or MOA(COOL!). Say you read @ 375yrds., it'll also give a bullet drop measurement (say 17 inches or 4 MOA incre.). Bulls-eye mode reads closer target (when other is in background), & Brush mode is opposite. Also has auto scan for you people stuck in 2nd dimension. Bow option gives you line-of-sight reading & recommended aiming distance. Say you're 25ft. up in a tree stand, aiming downward @ 40yrd actual line of sight target, unit also displays recommended aiming distance (say 34yrds.) based on angle. This applies to rifle setting as well. 3rd setting is straight line of sight reading. Instructions state it'll sight a deer up to 850yrds, haven't verified yet.
***AMAZON ROCKS!!***----I had 1st unit 2day shipped, came with scratch in coated lens out of box. Went to website/acct./orders/select return/submit. I immediately e-mailed C.S., being more descriptive than "defective product" (closest out of 5 options to select) & requesting overnight delivery for replacement. AMAZON had already processed replacement order w/overnite instructions before I even sent it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!HOORAY FOR AMAZON CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!!!!!YOU 'GUYS ROCK!(sorry for the blunt e-mail). PS- I'll write a 'quickie' review after a trip to the range range, as well as the shootin' range (the one w/metal out to 1000yrds!).

On a recent hunting trip to Texas, our guide let me use his Bushnell 1000. Returning home I started looking for one and found the Bushnell 1200 on Amazon CHEAPER than the 1000. It has all the bells and whistles of the 1000. One thing when purchasing a viewfinder. The only thing that will be picked up at 1200 yds are trees, houses, etc., not animals. That is why I chose the 1200, they are good to 475 yds on animals. Granted, I may will never shoot at that range, but if you ever hunted in parts of Texas, it is hard to range distances. I haven't used this yet for hunting, but I did use it at our local shooting range, it is very accurate. If looking to purchase, you can't go wrong with the 1200 Legend
