Product Description

The Bushnell Neo XS GPS Rangefinder Watch is the next generation of distance made simple.

Easy to Use

The Neo XS Watch is pre-loaded with 33,000+ courses in more than 30 countries (no membership or download fees). Auto course recognition allows users to easily find their course, and auto hole advance means golfers never have to touch the watch after starting a round. The Neo XS is equipped with an odometer, as well as standard watch features such as a stopwatch, alarm, and timer. The Neo XS watch is legal for tournament play.

Light, Comfortable, and Durable

The Neo XS Watch is light, thin, and features a comfortable sports band. The watch is also waterproof. The rechargeable battery of the Neo XS Watch is long lasting and provides up to 3 rounds of golf (based upon average of 4 hours per round), or two years of use as an everyday watch (time only). The watch comes with a USB/Charging cable.

Time Mode

Time mode displays time, date, day. The time can be set using GPS position, meaning the time and date will be set via longitude position. Users can set preferences between 12 hour or 24 hour time format. The Neo XS also features a daylight time option for a quick and easy way to adjust the time between daylight savings and standard time.

Play Golf Mode

In "Play Golf Mode", users can easily track the hole number, par information, and front/center/back of the green distances. With auto hole advance, the watch will automatically advance to the next hole as you walk around the course. Getting distance around the course has never been easier.

Tee Time

Tee Time is a useful feature that allows users to set up a tee time up to 1 week in advance. When a Tee Time is set, the Neo XS watch will automatically enter Play Golf mode, and search for local courses 7 minutes prior to the set time.

Hazard Distances

Pre-loaded with up to 4 hazard distances per hole, golfers can easily track hazard locations during play. Also includes layup distances, which makes choosing the right club easier than ever.

Odometer Mode

The Odometer is a GPS function that tracks speed, distance traveled, and activity time. This multi-purpose feature can also be used for fitness activities. This technology is used in the "track shot distance" functionality.

Menu Screen

Featuring an easy to navigate menu screen, the Neo XS is easy to use and operate. From the menu screen, users can switch to Golf Mode, adjust settings, or utilize other watch features such as the timer, alarm, or stopwatch.

Probably the most important function of a golf GPS is its' accuracy then its' ease of use.

To judge its' shot distance accuracy, I laid out two 300' tape measures end to end (200 yds) and further broke that down to every 25 yds. I gave each distance 30 secs prior to recording the number to give the gps time to adjust to my movements. I ran the experiment 3 times.

The following 25yd increments were recorded as follows:

25-(28,26,22)
50-(54,49,46)
75-(78,73,73)
100-(102,99,100)
125-(127,125,125)
150-(151,151,149)
175-(178,173,175)
200-(204,200,201)

So as you can see, even the Bushnell Lasers are only accurate to +/- 1 yd. For the extra $250 they want for it, I decided to buy the watch and spend the extra $250 on a new driver. The watch appears to be more accurate the longer the distance. I found it very easy to use and won't miss having to put the laser up to my eye, hold it very steady to make any more measurements. I am not a good enough golfer that 1 or 2 yds is going to make a big difference in my score.

Enjoy

I don't normally write reviews, but felt compelled to for this product. First, I normally shoot in the mid 80's to mid 90's and play 15-20 or so rounds a year. For a short while I used a hand-held GPS, but found it cumbersome and inconvenient (so much so that I used it rarely).

Using a GPS watch has easily taken 2-3 strokes off my rounds - mostly because some holes are very deceiving and the watch "tells the truth".

I have friends with both Garmins (maybe there are more than 2 now - I bought my Neo X about 4-5 months ago). The Bushnell has functions in between both (but closer to the higher-end model but at the time was priced like the lower-end one (I paid $149).

Positives

1. Very simple to use. It took me about 10 minutes to learn how to use it. Must functions are 1-2 presses of a button. This is what I really like about it - it is not fancy, but very intuitive and it gives you all the basic functions plus some that are not basic (shot distance and hazard distances, for example).
2. Very accurate (center, front and back of green)
3. With 1 button press, it will give you the distance to a creek or bunker on most holes (the lower end Garmin does not. This was a big reason I went with Bushnell).
4. The battery life is pretty good (very good compared to others, but I still only get 2+ rounds on one charge).
5. There is also a function to measure the distance of each shot (you press a button when you hit the ball and press it again after you walk/ride to your ball and are ready for the next shot.
6. I have read reviews that indicate the band is uncomfortable, but I find it fine.
7. There are some nice basic features if you are a runner (ok, not many golfers are runners, but I am).
8.

Just received my Neo X GPS watch. Ordered from Golfsmith, through Amazon, on Sunday and delivered Wednesday, Golfsmith's free shipping not Amazon Prime. Quick and well packaged, nicely done Golfsmith.
The early assesment of the Neo X is very good. The battery charged very quickly and it was easy to set up. I then went to my golf course to give it an on course workout. It was easy to use, quick, and very accurate, within a couple of yards. I used the shot measuring tool several times, again, easy and accurate. Sometimes when the green is close to the next teebox, the watch will advance to the next hole when you approach the green. A real easy push of a button and its back to the hole you are on.
I have poor old man eyesight (I wear 2.5x reading glasses for books) but the watch is very easy for me to read without glasses.
I played for 3 hours with extra button pushing, to test the functions of the watch, the battery still showed fully charged.

At this time I highly recommend. As I get more use out of it at different courses I will update this review for reliability and durability.

I have owned all 3 and I prefer the NEO-X. While the Garmin watches are very good I prefer the NEO based on 1. Longer battery life.... A lot longer. 2. I'm getting up there in age and the NEO numbers are huge, no problem seeing them and no eye strain. 3. Distance to hazards is available with just a one button push. It's nice to know how far a bunker is or a water hazard etc. 4. The NEO seems lighter than the others, I haven't checked the specs, but going just by feel. While the S2 can track you total score, that doesn't mean much to me since I use the card anyway. All the watches get the distance quickly and accurately but I prefer the NEO X for the above stated reasons. Stay away from the NEO PRO. It is $50 cheaper but doesn't have the same features. I hope this review was helpful, now keep your head down and hit em straight!

What's not to like? Set it ahead of your round, 7 minutes prior to tee off, it starts automatically or simply push a button and it recognizes your chosen course once on site. It then automatically starts you off and changes holes as you go. It really is one button golf! It is the simplest G pS watch I've experienced. It is so light and unobtrusive I never feel it! period! I used to remove my regular watch for a round, but this is so light it might as well not be there. GPS is accurate as compared to a big and heavy rangefinder my golfing partner uses. Honestly, this little gadget works, easy to read and use, go get it! No wonder it is rated #1!
