Product Description

Amazon.com Product Description

Ideal for camping, spelunking, and observing nighttime creatures, the Bushnell night-vision goggles are a must for people who are just getting started after dark. The goggles set the standard in light-gathering technology, with a built-in infrared illuminator that enhances images even in the darkest shadows. As a result, the goggles are not only handy for casual use, but also for patrolling warehouses or performing surveillance where no ambient light exists. The goggles also come with a secure headgear system that wears comfortably throughout the evening.

How Does Digital Night Vision Work?
Bushnell digital night vision products collect existing light through the objective lens, and then process it through a highly sensitive image sensor. Inside the sensor, a photocathode is "excited" by the light and converts the energy into electrons. The electrons then accelerate across an electrostatic field inside the intensifier and strike a phosphor screen (like a monochrome TV screen), which subsequently emits an image that you can see. The acceleration of electrons provides gain and enhances the image. The infrared illuminator in this set of goggles adds to the function by providing a light source for the system to amplify. This, in turn, yields enhanced images in extreme low-light conditions where no ambient light is available for amplification, such as caves.

5.0 out of 5 stars Not a bad deal for the price., July 5, 2006

It's a great deal. Walking around with it on takes some getting used to, but I can't complain. It's wild seeing deer walking around and eating the plums off the trees. I've taken back the night PEOPLE!;) Have fun all!

I'd like to see what the difference between Gen I and Gen II and III. But the price will keep me from being that curious.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Night Vision for the Price, April 14, 2009
This review is from: Bushnell Night Vision Goggle with Headgear (Electronics)
These work great for watching animals, testing IR devices or just seeing what is going on around you at night. These use old Russian tubes, Gen1 vintage but work very well. The IR LED will give a red glow when used, but you can use a higher quality IR LED flashlight or IR filter over a Surefire light and not be seen at all unless someone has night vision gear as well. Lenses to reflect, but tenebraex or killflash lenses work for that. Head contraction feels odd, but not bad enough to cause problems. N batteries are failry cheap...$5 for two usually. I sometimes turn these on, then off to conserve power....they will remain on for a few minutes until they need power again. The built in light sensor protects these from bright lights. I have used Gen2 and Gen3 military gear and for the money this is great stuff. Fisheye effect is there but not enough to keep me from recommending.

3.0 out of 5 stars Over hyped, February 28, 2006
This review is from: Bushnell Night Vision Goggle with Headgear (Electronics)
The Bushnell night vision goggles, is a great pair of goggles for the price it is. Although its only Gen1 goggles it still is very useful. When I brought these from a retailer and proceeded to use them at night I found out that my goggles were actually second hand, but that is besides the point. The Bushnell goggles when used with combination headgear, can feel very bulky and uncomfortable in the prone upright position, but as soon as you push the button to unlock the twisting mechisism the googles feel quite lite and compfortable.

The night vision itself is ok at best. With moonlight only the night vision can be described as a fuzzy black and white blobs, very faint to the naked eye, but combined with the bulit in IR the imaculate glow of the green, is just amazing. With its limited range and ok night vision the bushnell goggles is not too bad, alothough the bulit in Bright light circuit can be a bit at times over sensitive. Over all the bushnell goggles is an ok buy if your looking for cheap affordable goggles, but in the near future my review my change due to the fact that my goggles were actually quite defective.

It would only work for a certain amount of time and then the image on display would disapper and not reappear until I have waited at least 5 mins, now I cannot speak for bushnell saying that it was the bright light circuit in effect. But that wasnt the case due to the fact that I was in compelete darkness, with IR mode on. I have searched everywhere for information about bushnell goggles having a bulit in power saving feature but that would be just silly. So I dont know what it is, I am going to replace my bushnell goggles with a new one, and see if those are better, until then this review is all I have to offer you until I get somemore NVG time, wirh my new pair.

Thanks for reading and hope I have helped.
