Pleased with product,

I really like the perma-focus attribute of this product. We use it for nature watching while hiking and vacationing. It's good to be able to pass the binoculars back and forth to others without losing the subject while adjusting the focus each time. Only drawback is the difficulty in holding binoculars steady when viewing due to magnification. Best binoculars we've had.

The Bushnell Perma Focus binoculars are a godsend to my wife. They are extremely useful to me but they are not for everyone. They are not a one-size-fits-all, all -purposes binoculars. They are exceptionally useful for people who have trouble using (focusing & adjusting) binoculars who want to look at things at 25 plus yards away. For fast actions sports from up in the stands, like football, NASCAR, track and field they are what you need. Scanning the shores from cruise ships, whale watching, anything that it is not probable that you are going to get close into the subject, such as wildlife watching from a distance (wolves, bears, moose), or wildlife that you prefer watching from a distance (wolves, bears, moose). Put these dudes up to your eyes and you are instantly in business. There is nothing to adjust, nothing to balance, nothing to fiddle with. Bingo you are there, in focus, and following what is going on with these non-focus binoculars. We have two pair. I bought one pair from Amazon.com for much less that the stores wanted. With weeks my wife had confiscated them for her use. So eventually I popped for a second set from Amazon. We have several sets of binoculars around the house acquired over the years, many of which did not survive falls, being tread on, or our children. The Perma Focus are plenty rugged for normal use. There is almost nothing on them to break actually.
What they are not. They are not for close in viewing. In my experience they do not focus well on things within 25 yards of you. If you are a birder looking for eagles and hawks from mountain trails they would work for you. If you need binoculars to watch cardinals or humming birds in closer proximity, these are not for you. When I'm not sure what range I will need to be looking at, I carry a small pair of pocket 8x20 adjustable binoculars as my alternate pair for close in work. The Perma Focus work well with or without glasses. The eye pieces do fold down, although you have to convince them that they want to do that the first time you use them. I have lousy vision that is correctable to only 20/40 in one eye and 20/20 in the other. Strangely enough without my glasses I can see closer in with these binoculars than the 25 yards, but not much further out. That means, that how close in you can use them will vary from user to user. The distance vision should be great for everyone. I'd say that they do what they do extremely well.

Perma Focus doesn't hold up to expectations,
By A Customer

It already got a pair of 7x21 compact binoculars and wanted these ones for bird watching. Unfortunately these ones don't give a sharp image, not even at greater distance to the object. Because they are "Perma" focus there is no way of focusing them to closer objects, let's say 30 feet away. In general, I would not recommend them.

Although these binoculars are not at thier best in close, the long range view more than adequately makes up for any shortcomings. For objects at a distance, I can think of no other binocular that has as crisp an image, or as wide a field of view. Also, they are a pleasure to pick up and have an instant view without the delay in having to focus them. The rugged, rubber encased, no slip frame are one of the most "ergonomically correct" pair of glasses that I have ever used.
The only downside I see to these is the clarity of objects at a significantly closer range. They do tend to be slightly off focus. However, if I were to be looking at objects at a much closer distance, I would not need to use these. Also, the carrying case is more than functional but, leaves a bit to be desired. I use these binoculars for both land and especially water searches, and can think of no other which is as well made and economically priced. The auto focus feature is a major asset when having to pick up the glasses and sight in on a moment's notice. If you are looking for a value priced, yet extremely well constructed and built pair of binoculars, these may very well be the pair for you.

My friend showed me a pair of Japanese binoculars he had purchased years ago. They were called "Jason" and I had never seen anything like them. No matter what you looked at, everything was always in focus! In fact, there was NO focus dial at all! I had to have a pair & he said he would see if he could find out were I could get them. He did some research & found that Bushnell was now making them under the name Perma Focus. He found a pair online for $79.00. I knew Amazon sold Bushnell products so I checked & sure enough, there they were! Only instead of $79.00 they were $39.00.
What a bargain! I just can't help but wonder why ALL Binoculars aren't made this way... Even if you rarely have any need or use for a pair of Binoculars (like me) it's worth fourty bucks to have these! You WON'T be dissapointed!

We work in Yellowstone National Park for the summer season. We had met many park visitors that were using perma focus optic devices and decided to get one for ourselves. We determined that tne Bushnell was the best value available for our needs. Then, we shopped Amazona and saved 40%. Also, delivery was simple, the merchandise was shipped directly to our campground.
The perma focus allow was to scan for wildlife far and near our car as we drive through the park or as we view nature from an overlook. Simple to use and we see more wildlife now than ever before. When it comes to optics we are not interested in technical specifications. We want easy to use and great performance. The Bushnell Perm Focus are a perfect fir.

These work great! I love them. I have been using them for birding and it is really nice not having to worry about the focus. Often things move too quickly for you to have time to try and focus before they are gone, so these are wonderful. If you try looking at something very close it won't be in focus, but you don't really need binocs for stuff that close. :)

I purchased this product on a heads up from a friend of mine that uses them in his lifeguard gig. He swears by them in scanning the ocean for events. My son used them last night while working on his Astronomy Merit Badge and was scanning the night sky. The "Perma Focus" technology really works. Just set the adjustment to fit both eyes and the technology automatically gives you a perfectly focused view of whatever you are looking at. Amazing! Can't wait to take them to the football game this Saturday.

If your like me and Hate turning a diopter for one eye and then messing with the center focus wheel for the other eye, these Bushnell Perma Focus binoculars are what your looking for! This is my second pair. I had an 8 power set that I lost andjust replaced them with the 10X50.
These binoculars are GREAT. Just grab them and adjust to the width of your eyes and thats it, they are focused. If your out looking at wildlife with a buddy you can both take turns looking without the hassle that Non focus free binoculars require. These binocs are very clear * NOTE* things closer than 30 feet are to close, I'm not sure if it is Because of the 10 magnifcation or just a because of the Perma Focus itself, regardless the ease of use and the price along with Busnell's Lifetime Warranty makes these the only binoculars i will ever Buy. Busnell even offers a 2 year replacement for accidental damage for $13.00 when you register them. You can't go wrong with these binoculars.

After doing quite a bit of research, I chose these binoculars primarily for use at athletic events. I've been very pleased with the Perma Focus feature, the clarity of the image, and the durability. The downside is the weight and size. That might make it difficult for continued use, i.e., wildlife. But unless you want to pay another $100 or so, this is a very good choice.
