Optics are one of those things where you really do get what you pay for. With that in mind, there is no way this Bushnell red dot is going to be comparable to an Aimpoint sight. After much research decided on the Bushnell TRS-25 for use on Saiga12 shotgun. see Nutnfancy you tube review). The glued on front mirror lens is slightly angled in to the left is considered normal. If there is bright sun overhead or behind you, there will be a slight red tint on the upper left corner that does not affect target acquisition.

4.0 out of 5 stars Exceptional value on a pretty good sight, March 15, 2010

Optics are one of those things where you really do get what you pay for. With that in mind, there is no way this Bushnell red dot is going to be comparable to an Aimpoint sight. In fact, just a few weeks ago, I wouldn't have even considered buying a red dot like this; but I have been pleasantly surprised with the results.

When I got a new 20-gauge shotgun to take my daughter turkey hunting, I was going to pull an Aimpoint T1 Micro off another rifle so I could put it temporarily on the shotgun. Unfortunately, one of the hex head screws that was holding the sight onto a high mount got stripped out and I didn't want to do anything rash that might mess up such a nice optic. That put me unexpectedly into the market for a new red dot.

Spending hundreds of dollars on a new Aimpoint for a 13-year-old's shotgun seemed excessive and I couldn't bring myself to do it - so I bought this Bushnell red dot based on other reviews that I found. The results have been better than I expected.

There are several negative reviews for the Bushnell sight, and I have to admit that they make valid points:
1) The battery life on the Bushnell isn't even close to the Aimpoint and I had to keep remembering to turn it off when not in use; but it is still good enough for what I needed - and it's also better than the EOTech sights.
2) I did notice the orange haze along the top of the screen.
3) The brightness/power knob is hard to turn - my daughter can't do it. However, it does seem to be loosening up a bit and I'm hoping it gets to a point where she can turn it herself.
4) The windage and elevation controls feel cheap and the 'clicks' aren't very positive.
5) The finish isn't even comparable to the Aimpoint sights.

Having said all that, I don't think it even matters in many cases. Once I zero'd it in, the Bushnell stayed on target through lots of light-target shells, almost a dozen magnum turkey loads, and 3 solid days of being handled by a teenager:). We've shot it enough now that I trust it will be on target when needed. It was also easy to see the red dot in all the light conditions that we encountered. Overall, it performed exceptionally well for the price.

As a summary, let me say that if you are getting this sight and expecting it to match the quality and features of an Aimpoint you might as well just keep saving and get the real thing. If you want to spend a fraction of that cost on something that will work just fine for many purposes - then I highly recommend this Bushnell TRS-25.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Red Dot for the money!!!, September 4, 2009

I originally bought this sight for my pistol and it worked great on it, but when I got it I was so impressed with the sight I mounted it on my 12 ga. It is well built, and is just as good as my aimpoint sight, but 100s of dollars cheaper. It is light weight (6.4 OZ) and is very accurate. The battery life is good (I left it on for 5 days and it was still working well). I have used about every Red dot sight on the market, and for the money this is the sight to get.Perfect for CQB (close combat battle) and home defense.

5.0 out of 5 stars great red dot sight, November 17, 2009

i bought this sight for my shotgun. as always amazon delivers promptly. the packaging in no frills. cleaning cloth, allen key, manual, warranty card, and this little sight. bushnell made an excellent aimpoint T1 clone. the sight is very well built, rugged, and simple. after finding my preferred placement on the weaver rail, i added some drops of blue loctite to the screw and the threading on the locking plate. and tightened about half a turn past a firm resistance. let it sit for 10 minutes, then unscrewed the windage and elevation adjustments. slapped in my bore sight, and zeroed it. took it to the range, 25 yards with slugs. first round on target. 400+ shotgun shells later, its still perfectly zeroed. i have 100% confidence in this product. its low profile lets me cowitness my iron sights just in case. but i haven't used them since really. battery life seems ok, haven't replaced it yet.

to sum up. simple micro dot sight. clean glass and a bright dot. 400 rounds or more flying out of a semi automatic 12 gauge should be test enough that this sight wants to stay in place. for its price range their are few if any competitors that wouldn't have disintegrated from that abuse.

Don't listen to the naysayers that claim you can't have a decent optic for less than $600 bucks! They just don't want to admit they could have bought 3 cases of ammo instead of an overpriced red dot. Listen folks, this is a great optic - period! I just mounted on my AK 47 and the accuracy is unbelievable. I ran 1,000 rounds through and it held zero like a champ. Slow, fast, and bump firing. The dot is small and bright. Was drilling targets sub MOA at 200 yd. Can see the dot fine on a bright august day. It's awesome at close range as well. For those of you that don't believe, look for my auction on Ebay were I will be listing my $650 Aimpoint off of my AR 15 because I just ordered another one of these bad boys for it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Best value priced red dot, April 27, 2011

I spent a lot of time trying to pick a red dot scope for my new M&P 15-22 and was worried that I may wind up purchasing a scope that was actually designed for an airsoft rifle. This is not the case here, after spending hours on you tube watching red dot scope reviews I deciding on this one. I was able to zero in about 16 rounds and spent the entire day shooting. I put over 1500 rounds throught the rifle and the zero held. The sight is nice and compact as well as light weight. The M&P is a polymer weapon system and I wanted something that would help the stream line tone of the weapon and this is it.

Keep in mind the M&P 15-22 is a .22 cal weapon system but I would not have any hesitation to use this on one of my other 5.56 AR's. This is a great scope at a good price point. I also have the latest eotech xps sight that priced over $500 and am just as happy with the bushnell. The only caveat to that would be I don't know if I would use the bushnell in combat situations like I would the eotech. Having served in Iraq, the eotechs are battle proven in my eyes but for a fraction of the cost your home shooting solution should be the bushnell.

I want to add a thank you to you tube's nutnfancy for his review which pushed my decision over the edge to purchase this site.

I was looking for a cheaper red dot sight for a .22. I usually run Aimpoint scopes on my other rifles but I couldn't see spending that much for a non tactical weapon I was just going to plink with. I mounted it on a Walther Sp22 with a 6" barrel. It has a small dot that I was looking for. Most of the dot scopes I found were 4-8moa dots. This one is a 3moa and if you turn the intensity down a bit it looks like a 2moa for more accuracy. I have only used it a few times but it works very well for my application!

I love this sight!

I've mounted this on my M&P15-22p, and it's way more accurate than using iron sights. It doesn't quite hold zero when traveling, but I do Baja the dirt roads which is probably the cause.

I'd strongly recommend this to anyone with a 22lr firearm.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Red Dot Sight, July 21, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Bushnell Trophy TRS-25 1xRed Dot Sight Riflescope (Sports)
I mounted this red dot sight on my Marlin .444. Why? I have a bushnell holosight on my M1A socom and I wanted a smaller red dot sight to mount on my .444, without taking away to much of the lever action look. The mounting was obviously simple with a weaver mount, I removed the Lyman peep sight I have used for years on it. The red dot is easily visible in normal light from about the 3 setting and up. I did not think that the intensity turn knob was too tight as others have mentioned. Sighting was simple. First shot at 100 yards hit the dirt mound in front of the target almost exactly 12 inches below the bulls (we have a measured 100 yard range from one valley side to the other, makes it easy to see low or high bullet impact points). 24 clickes up (.5 MOA per click) and we are on paper. The second shot hit 6 inches to the left perfectly level with the X ring. 12 clicks to the right and bingo! We have a 3 shot group all touching about 6 o'clock in the X/ten ring. I used the 3 and 4 setting as the outside edges of the black show up beautifully. Quite easy to stay centered. I viewed the dot as a perfect round dot, my father viewed the dot as a cluster of about three dots. If you do not center your eye on the scope you can see a halo in the upper left and a very faint "ghost dot" in the bottom right. None of these appeared when looking directly down the scope with both eyes opened as intended. I am very happy with this little red dot sight and I hope this hunting season will benefit from it. I highly recommend anyone looking at small or any red dot sight to consider it.

This scope is great as a backup to my magnified scope. Be careful though. The $30 Bushnell mail in rebate Amazon advertises does not apply to this scope. I just got off of the phone with a Bushnell service rep who verified this.
