4.0 out of 5 stars Ranging in Tough Situations
This product is rugged and forgiving. Accurate to +/- 1 ft., this is an absolute must have for all serious bowhunters. Lightweight and easy to use, I find only one minor design flaw. It is designed for right-handed use and is slightly cumbersome for those who choose to use it as left-handed hunters (I am). Even with this minor design flaw, I still am very satisfied...

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't buy this one
I purchase this instrument twice. The first time there were black specks in the lense, so it was returned. The second time was worst, i.e. same black specs but the thing didn't work at all. I have also checked this manufacturer's other models out and most come with the disturbing black specks in the lense. This isn't a quality optical product.

Even with this minor design flaw, I still am very satisfied with this unit and would not hesitate to recommend it to others. Most encounters are under 50 yards and ease of use and accuracy are critical elements in a hunt. I harvested a nice elk this year at 52 yards using this unit. Thanks Bushnell!

4.0 out of 5 stars Good for close cover, December 29, 2000
This review is from: Bushnell Yardage Pro 600 Laser Rangefinder (Electronics)
The Pro600 rangefinder is really nice if you are working with relatively close subjects or in close cover. Bowhunters, blackpowder shooters, and others who aren't looking to really extend their viewing range will benefit from the clean display and ease of use.

The 600 yard range proves a limitation for folks looking to work in big territory, such as open country big game hunters or sailors. There is another rangefinder from Bushnell, the Pro1000, which is a better choice for these users.

All in all, the one I tried was pretty nice. A neat gadget for the hunting pack.

4.0 out of 5 stars Bushnell Yardage Pro 1000- Used for Golfing, March 16, 2007

Good product, like the price. This is much less expensive than the current pinseeker 1500 models, I bought it on ebay used for $150 so you may be able to find it for less (look under hunting AND golf rangefinders for this model). This does not have the pinseeker feature of the newer models but normal mode and scan mode work perfectly for ranging flags that have no reflectors (although you may need to try more than one time and have relatively stable hands). I was able to range a flag at 270 yards, and was able to range the top of a telephone pole at 375 yards (but it was windy so the flag was straight out and a little cloudy). I would estimate that this will work for ranging flags on a calm sunny day (these don't work as well on a sunny day because the laser used is a visible light laser and gets a little interference from sunlight) at 215-230 yards for a flag (which is what I need it for). Less expensive alternative than the pinseeker, and I really like the performance, very impressed.

I use this great product when playing golf and while hunting. Plus it is just fun to have and a great discussion item. It is very accurate and precise.

Picked up a Bushnell Yardage Pro 1000 Laser Rangefinder used online at another site for alittle less than half the new price.

Works very good and was worth every penny I spent on it. Easily ranged objects and animals well past 800 yards.

1.0 out of 5 stars Do not Purchase, December 13, 2004
My hunting buddy purchased a Nikon 800. My intent was to put him in the shade. That Nikon kicks the crap out of my Bushnell Yardage Pro 1000. Tried new batteries, tried bluffing, even tried to lie but nothing helped this product past 500/600 yards.

My opinion is this product is not worth the postage.
