3.0 out of 5 stars Not as advertised by manufacturer, August 1, 2004

(REAL NAME)
This review is from: Tasco Platinum 10x50mm Binoculars (Electronics)
The mfg website list these features (actual product)

1. multi coated rubicon lenses (fully coated)
2. illuminated red compass (simply not there)
3. waterproof (rubber coated-not waterproofed)

The actual product nor the literature states anything about the waterproofing, while the mfg website does. Moving past the disappointment over the "best features for the price" deal I thought I got, the binocs are ...ok. Feel good in the hands, diopter adjustment is firm, focusing is fast-details and images are bright and crisp. Near focus seems to be about 15 ft. Strap seems flimsy. The lens caps are not attached to the binocs themselves, so it's a matter of time till I lose them. They will be good for my light birdwatching, night sky viewing, and mountain vacations.
