5.0 out of 5 stars Well-suited to its limited purpose
This is really nothing more than a highly specialized desktop publishing program - and it works very well for its limited purpose. It doesn't do anything you can't do with a myriad of other programs, but it does make it all a little more convenient and a little user.

Plenty of templates to work with, plenty of clip art images and fonts. For the low price,...

2.0 out of 5 stars Not for professional cards
I bought this package when I needed business cards fast. This package is not for a professional trying to make an impression. The cards are cute. There is limited ability to change format. If you don't fill in a box for a centered card, the type will be off center. The cards did print well.

Plenty of templates to work with, plenty of clip art images and fonts. For the low price, it's a competent program and, frankly, a lot of fun to work with.

Can't go wrong with this one.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best of the business card packages, December 31, 2007

My company has purchased several software packages for doing our business cards and letterhead. Business Card Factory Deluxe is the best of the lot. It is also the only one we have seen to include a written manual. Keep in mind that with all these packages you will not be able to use 95% of what is included. It is the other 5% that counts.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent software/works with Windows Vista, June 17, 2008
This review is from: Business Card Factory Deluxe 3.0 (CD-ROM)
The reason I bought it instead of a general desktop publishing program is that this includes a lot of customization and templates that general packages do not offer. Besides I don't need to publish brochures right now though I did in 1988 with other Desktop Publishing software on the Mac.

This will work with Vista, even though it doesn't say it, if you download additional drivers from Microsoft called "Windows Help (WinHlp32.exe)" for Vista. An easier way would be to go to the novadevelopment dot com website and click support and look for the link.

It works beautifully on Vista for me.

I spent a long time waiting on a non 800 number for a little help with this program. After finally getting a real person, he didn't even know what I was talking about. After an hour on the phone where he did "research" the problem was not resolved and he had no idea how to even identify it to resolve it. I spent money (phone bill) and time for nothing. The program itself is pretty good if you don't ever need any help because they don't have a help service on the CD, it just tells you to go to Windows which doesn't help with business card questions.
I would like to add that since I switched to Windows 7, I have had nothing but problems with this softward even though calling them (much confusion there) ended up with them telling me that it was fully compatable. I would not purchase this software again. It is difficult to use and to figure out.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not Impressed, March 8, 2010

I bought this item in December 2009 and held off on reviewing so that I could have time to learn the software. After purchasing Greeting Card Factory Deluxe 8.0 I expected that this software would have been on par with capabilities, but not so. For me, a beginner, the editing functions were extremely limited. There are no undo/redo tabs, and once a picture is inserted (imported), the options for manipulating the picture/photo seems non-existent. For example, it's not possible to resize/extend the side of an inserted picture without resizing the entire picture. Being that this software and Greeting Card Factory are from the same company, I expected that it would have allowed for the importation of documents from Greeting Card Factory 8.0, and T-Shirt Factory Deluxe 3.0, but it does NOT. I found that annoying since much of what I do depend upon the latter software - a software that I am really impressed with. One would think that someone in the company would have recognized the importance and value of allowing each of these software to be compatible with each other, thereby increasing sales probability. But apparently NOT. For these reasons I'm NOT impressed with this software, and as a direct result I now need to spend more money to purchase a better software for business card productions.

3.0 out of 5 stars Decent software for the price..., January 23, 2012

I purchased this software so that I could make quality business cards for my small business. I didn't want to go to a professional as I will only be printing low volume and thought I could save some $$$ as most pros in the business only give you reasonable rates in bulk quantities. The software installation went great with no hassles. Software runs well and takes you through steps to get you started. You can select either pre-installed templates or you can start a blank template and create your own from scratch which is the route I chose as I wanted mine to be unique. I saw some concerns from people asking if you can add your own pictures and the answer is yes, you can. Which I highly recommend if you are looking to get that professional and unique look to your cards. Otherwise, they give you "clip art" pictures that look very unprofessional and look like something printed off of Windows 98 sort of technology era. My only complaint about the software is once you do get into actually creating your cards it was confusing! I wanted a background color, do they have a background color button to click? No. I think if you are using a blank template it just wants you to use white and nothing more. I may be wrong but I am somewhat computer literate and for some reason I just couldn't figure it out. I finally wound up on google images typing "black background" saving the picture, uploading it into the document and cropping it to size to finally obtain my background color. Wasted time & effort as far as that was concerned. The entire layout is why the software only gets a 3. In my opinion it wasn't very self explanatory and fool proof. Inserting text could be done in different ways, via "text box" or creating text effects which seemed to reduce print quality so I just put the plain text. The text frame itself was a little confusing as it seemed to "suggest" that you were actually going to get "Boxed in text" on your card which thankfully the lines didn't show on final print or in print preview, but again gets you nervous. Centering, there was no center text, images, etc built in to the software, I didn't want everything off centered so I had to play around with it to get it as close to perfect as possible.

In closing: If you are in a hurry to print some cards and don't want to spend much money but think you need a hand with software such as myself this might be right for you. With that being said, I think I would have done a little more research to see what else is on the market and what is rated better/more recommended, if I could do it all over again. Bottom line though, it did get the job done for me with some toying and poking around.

This is a good little program for the price, but it only does business cards. If you want more than that, you will need to spend more money on a bigger program. It is simple to operate, but I think I'd go for a bigger program next time.
