4.0 out of 5 stars Business coaching - good advice with a sales pitch attached
The book was a very good read, and contained a great amount of helpful ideas and concepts to help small businesses grow. It is also very informative, in a generalized way, to someone looking to start a coaching business. The details are saved for the franchise pitch that is strongly hinted at throughout the book. I enjoy Mr. Sugars style of writing and ability to get...

1.0 out of 5 stars The Biggest Scam Ever!!
I purchased two of the series because its high ratings. Then when I went back and read the review again, I found an very interesting pattern. That is, all the reviewers who give 4's or 5's to the series are the same people. What is more, when you see their review history, you will find that they only have reviews for the series only. What a coincidence!

I am not implying the author or his company fake the rating. I am just pointing out the fact for yourself to decide. And I think amazon should definitively take action to investigate this kind of activities. I lose faith in amazon's rating system because of this incident.

A disappointed book lover

1.0 out of 5 stars Not worth buying, borrow from the library, October 29, 2007
This review is from: The Business Coach (Instant Success) (Instant Success Series) (Paperback)
The book is an easy read, but there's no substance, a few good points but nothing else.

1.0 out of 5 stars Unethical Business Practice, January 22, 2008
This review is from: The Business Coach (Instant Success) (Instant Success Series) (Paperback)
Here's another disappointed reader who noticed that many of the 5 star reviews were made by those associated with the author. Don't believe me? If you google a bunch of the 5-star reviewer names, you'll easily find that they are business coaches at Action International, who worked with the author to publish this book.

Having said that, this book does indeed have some good ideas. However, one should always strive to succeed while acting ethically, and hire coaches who themselves will act ethically. The coaches at Action International have clearly demonstrated that they don't fall into that category.

1.0 out of 5 stars Coaching Review, December 21, 2007
This review is from: The Business Coach (Instant Success) (Instant Success Series) (Paperback)
Those who are giving this book 5 stars will be the very same franchised business coaches who benefit from the sale of the book. Do not be sucked in as the book is very weak. There is no instant success with this book.

1.0 out of 5 stars Too Elementary, December 12, 2006
By
This review is from: The Business Coach (Instant Success) (Instant Success Series) (Paperback)
While the cover of this book looks great, the content is terrible. This book comes across as a pitch to a poorly informed business owner who has absolutely no clue how to run a business. For example, what is break even and how many more widgets do you need to sell to get to break even. I am not joking....

If you own a business and need elementary assistance, this book can walk you thru what it's like to work with this franchise.

I could not read this book and will now probably donate it to the public library.

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't get sucked in..., April 28, 2007
This review is from: The Business Coach (Instant Success) (Instant Success Series) (Paperback)
by the good reviews. I have never been inspired to actually write a review before, but this book is so bad I felt it was my duty to warn others. The writing is unbearable, and the information is not at all specific enough to be worthwhile. If you're a new or aspiring business owner read The E-Myth Revisited instead. If you're not new to business, this book is a total waste of money.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good book..., May 1, 2007
This review is from: The Business Coach (Instant Success) (Instant Success Series) (Paperback)
The Business Coach is about how a business coach shows small- to medium-sized business owners what to do to improve their business. Most small- to medium-sized business owners don't even know their real numbers--Leads x Conversion Rate = Customers = Transactions x Avg Sale = Revenue x Margins = Profits. This book uses a story to show the business owners how to manage their time and increase their profits. Overall, a good read for someone who wants to improve their business, or who wants to become a business coach.

5.0 out of 5 stars Now working less hours...., May 2, 2007
This review is from: The Business Coach (Instant Success) (Instant Success Series) (Paperback)
I decided to give this book a crack because I really felt like I was in a rut when it came to managing my business. This book really helped me to see the forest through the trees. I quickly realized that I didn't know anything about the profitability of the products I was selling - I was so caught up running my business, but my business was running me...

I have since cut one of my product lines, and replaced it with a new more profitable product line, and have also hired my first staff. I am now trying to test and measure everything, and it's making a big difference. This book has helped me to take my business to the next step.

5.0 out of 5 stars coaching guidance via storytelling, April 27, 2006
This review is from: The Business Coach (Instant Success) (Instant Success Series) (Paperback)
The Business Coach is written more like a story than a motivational business book. In doing so, it gets the main points across more clearly. It tells the story of Joe and Nellie, as they transform their business and fulfill their dreams. Being written as a story more than just as a set of steps to follows helps the reader to envision his or her own business in place of Joe and Nellie's. The reader is able to imagine from start to finish what improvements might be made in his or her own business.

Sugars' six steps of mastery, niche, leverage, team, synergy and results creates a very steady ladder for business owners to climb. As I was reading, I would often stop to jot down notes about how I could implement these steps in my own business. I've been working extremely hard to keep my small business going. While it's going well, I knew I could be doing more, but I wasn't sure how to go about it. The Business Coach gave me simple, clear rules to follow. Seeing how Joe and Nellie went about improving their own business gave me a model to follow.

I have begun to implement changes in my business using steps I learned in The Business Coach. I know I am at the early stages and have many long months ahead of me, but I now have absolute faith in myself to become a better business owner while buliding a more successful business. I'm looking forward to having an equally successful business and personal life, as Joe and Nellie demonstrated.

The Business Coach is crucial reading material for any and every small business owner. Even if you're doing fantastically well, these steps will lead to even more growth and achievement. Owning your own business is an amazing feat in itself, but maximizing its potential can be near impossible. Start reading The Business Coach now and achieve your true potential as a small business owner!
