At our initial meetings with new instructors, we recommend they use Guffey because it makes teaching the course easy. She provides everything and anything you might need. Very comprehensive.

The Guffey text is well founded from a pedagogical standpoint. No one does it better than Mary Ellen.

The diversity of teaching and student supplements appears to be the most detailed I've seen with any business communication textbook. The Career Coach, Ethical Insight, and Tech Talk boxes in each chapter are unique as a way to superimpose themes throughout the text.

About the Author

Mary Ellen Guffey is Emerita professor of business from Los Angeles Pierce College. She has taught business communication and business English topics for over thirty years. She received a bachelor's degree, summa cum laude, in business education from Bowling Green State University; a master's degree in business education from the University of Illinois, where she held a fellowship; and a doctorate in business and economic education from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). She has taught at the University of Illinois, Santa Monica College, and Los Angeles Pierce College.

She is the author of BUSINESS COMMUNICATION: PROCESS AND PRODUCT, a leading textbook in the field. She has also written BUSINESS ENGLISH, which serves more students than any other book in its field; PROFESSIONAL ENGLISH, ESSENTIALS OF COLLEGE ENGLISH, and ESSENTIALS OF BUSINESS COMMUNICATION, the leading text/workbook in its market. Dr. Guffey serves on the review board of the Business Communication Quarterly of the Association of Business Communication.

Since the book is used, you can't access the interactive portion of the text...just buy the full version instead because you lose half of the content this way.
