5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic Book
This book answered a lot of questions I had about the present and future. I have gained much praise from my colleagues for the new information I can relate to them. Bowman clarifies a lot of the hazy areas that most people seem to be having difficulty with.

3.0 out of 5 stars No references for any assertions - Not really a Business Continuity Book
I'm a senior technologist and read many books on IT assurance and systems continuity. This book has some interesting points and is written in an engaging style, but has lots of questionable assertions. Each chapter is really a short essay on specific elements related to data center build considerations. I do not consider this to be a business continuity book. The...

5.0 out of 5 stars Simply no excuse, January 29, 2009

After reading Ron Bowman's Green Guide to PowerThe Green Guide to Power: Thinking Outside the Grid I was compelled to find any other texts this fresh author has written. There is no other author who could have written about cyberspace and continuity as a page turner that this turned out to be. A must read for anyone with enough responsibility to be curious about what our modern infrastructure really is, how it operates, and how it is planned. Aside from the responsible reader, if you are in the business world with no intention on leaving it, then there is simply no excuse to not read this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent background Information, June 30, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I have been in the It industry working as a Infrastructure consultant for some time. Generally there is a divide of information between facilities and servers. This book has very good information on bridging the gap between the 2 with very good examples.

This book helps you understand the areas you should invest in for building highly resilient data centers and the answer is more diverse than you can initially think of. I recommend this book especially for people who have been in high availability business and providing services based on server hardware, software and services.

3.0 out of 5 stars No references for any assertions - Not really a Business Continuity Book, May 5, 2010

This review is from: Business Continuity Planning for Data Centers and Systems: A Strategic Implementation Guide (Hardcover)
I'm a senior technologist and read many books on IT assurance and systems continuity. This book has some interesting points and is written in an engaging style, but has lots of questionable assertions. Each chapter is really a short essay on specific elements related to data center build considerations. I do not consider this to be a business continuity book. The biggest challenge is that there is no supporting evidence or references for any of the assertions made anywhere in the book. The writer makes many claims about costs for various elements of a data center, risks, and factors that should be considered...and I can agree with many. However, many of them seem entirely off base...and many points are unclear. There is no way for the reader to go check the facts on the questionable assertions. How can you have a 200 page book with graphs and charts, yet no bibliography or methods to validate the points. Novices may find this material interesting (and it is), but will have no way of filtering out accurate versus inaccurate information. I would not recommend this book to any of junior staff or other professionals.

5.0 out of 5 stars Outstanding, February 9, 2009
This review is from: Business Continuity Planning for Data Centers and Systems: A Strategic Implementation Guide (Hardcover)
This is a must read for anyone in the data center industry. The author does a great job relating the text to either the novice with little working knowledge of data centers, or to long time experts. I highly recommend this book to anyone wishing to expand their knowledge on the subject.
