Information technology is a critical element of virtually every business. But effectively aligning and using it to achieve business objectives is very difficult. That is because success requires so many elements to be done properly. Over 60 business leaders and university faculty members have collaborated to bring together insights from a broad spectrum of disciplines—from strategy and finance to information systems and project management. This information is contained in clearly written, concise answers to 100 questions that every manager needs to know to use information technology effectively. Each answer includes references to web and print resources for readers needing more detailed or the most current information. Business professionals will value the book because it covers a range of important areas that few know completely. University students will find the book a valuable source of necessary information for technology and management courses. Rarely is so much diverse expertise brought together and focused in a single book. It will become an essential resource for anyone working with information systems in an organization.

5.0 out of 5 stars Incredible! Its Written in English, September 15, 2003
This review is from: Business Driven Information Technology: Answers to 100 Critical Questions for Every Manager (Paperback)
This is one of the best (if not the best) books in this field. The answers are obviously written by experts in their areas, yet they managed to convey the ideas in a simple easy to understand manner. I think this is an excellent book for both people that have an IT background as well as for the general public!

5.0 out of 5 stars Practical Advice, February 7, 2004

As good as the book is the examples and reference material for further detail is even better. I just finished reading an article by Eric Goldfarb who is a CIO at:

http://www.cio.com/archive/071500_re.html

His work is in the book along with the URL. More detail like this shows the terrific value of both the academic and practical nature of this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very Helpful!, April 30, 2006

This review is from: Business Driven Information Technology: Answers to 100 Critical Questions for Every Manager (Paperback)
"Business Driven Information Technology" is an interesting compilation of answers to every question, topic, strategy, or buzzword that a business manager may be exposed to today. This should be mandatory for any aspiring business leader to expand understanding of current strategies and technologies. Each section addresses approximately 7-15 questions that are related by topic. This can be read from beginning to end as it flows from topic to topic. Each answer is thoroughly discussed in detail over a few pages. At minimum, this book puts current business practices on paper for explanation; including where it is today, and where it may be going in the future in an easy to follow manner.

It appears this book was a compilation from the business department at University of Colorado at Denver. Congratulations to that team for putting together an excellent description of what's going in the business world, which is suitable for business students to business professionals. The best thing about this book is the way the authors mixed management strategy and philosophy with technology. The one thing I would change is move one of the last sections regarding implementation and project management closer to the beginning of the book. There are a lot of great concepts throughout the book, but I wish I would've read them with knowledge of project implementation in mind.
