Book Description

0764101013 978-0764101014 January 1997 3rd
Here are understandable explanations of subjects related to business law and the legal environment. Separate chapters discuss the origin and nature of law, contracts in their many forms, negotiable instruments, banking procedures, types of business organization, legal definitions of crimes and torts, the concept of property, environmental law, labor-management relations law, intellectual property and computer law, and more. Business Review books are designed for classroom use, but are also valuable as self-teaching volumes for businesspersons engaged in various fields. When used in college business courses, these titles make fine supplements to main textbooks. Instructors in adult education and brush-up programs often choose these books as their main classroom text. Each title includes review questions with answers.

Business Law
Barron's Business Review books make excellent supplements to college textbooks, and also serve as fine main texts in adult education courses or business brush-up programs. All titles in this series define relevant business terms, review important concepts, and describe examples of business transactions. This newly revised title focuses on applied business law--the importance of legal theory in the everyday business world. It offers concise explanations for such subjects as litigation, the Constitution, contracts, commercial relations, property interests, bankruptcy, antitrust law, the Uniform Commercial Code, labor and employment law, torts, privacy rights, consumer protection, intellectual property, business crimes, securities law, and international law. Many other topics are also discussed. Current statutes and court cases are cited, and a comprehensive glossary defines over 2,200 words. --This text refers to an alternate Paperback edition.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good for Clep Exam, December 10, 2004
This book is all you need to pass the clep Exam. The book has a little bit of too much information than you actually need for the exam. There are 26 chapters in the book, but all you need to study is 20 chapters. You can select those chapters that u need to read by going to Cleps website (www.collegeboard.com) and look at the outline of the exam.

I took the exam recently and got a score of 70. I studied for one week 10 hours/day for the test. 80% of the questions were on contract and breach of contract. The rest were a mixture of questions. The test contained a lot of scenario questions pertaining mostly to contracts.

Remember to study the "terms" at the end of each chapter, study the "glossary" section and "You should remember" in each chapter and questions and answers in each chapter and you should be good to go.

If u need more pointers shoot me an email at simple6000@yahoo.com

This review is from: Business Law (Barron's Business Review Series) (Paperback)
In addition to being an excellent resource for small business owners, this book is recommended as a preparation for the CLEP Business Law examination (3 lower-level college credits) by a number of people. I second that opinion, especially if you are looking to hit the higher percentiles.

This isn't a dry academic text, but an easy to read text that covers the basics with a minimum of handholding. Hardwicke presents the critical information that managers need to know, in a down to earth book.

Highly recommended for CLEP or DANTES candidates.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great desk reference AND worked for CLEP and Dantes exams!, January 17, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Business Law (Barron's Business Review Series) (Paperback)
I bought this book to study for the CLEP Business Law I exam. I realized I could also use it for the Dantes Business Law II exam. I passed both, and am keeping it for a handy desk reference.

Nicely organized, good examples, and easy to read.
