Editorial Reviews

From Booklist

It is not a collection of business letters, ready to be mailed to any Tom, Dick, or Harriet. Rather, editor and author Isaacs takes her own advice and offers a very personal and very engaging view of an etiquette practice many would prefer to forget. Outlining every conceivable situation in which note writing could be a point well made, Isaacs first emphasizes the value of ignoring such high-tech tools as e-mail in favor of handwritten or typed missives. Occasions range from "saw this and thought of you" to the death of a dear one; every single solution, whether penned by the author or others, adds both grace and humanity to a work relationship, which is, after all, the prime raison d'etre for notes and their continued use as a business and social communications vehicle. Florence Isaacs does a masterful job of informing the business professional of the incredible importance and influence of notes. Notes are the bridges between professional relationships, and can determine the future of your business. Whether it be a thank you note for the previous day's lunch, the birth of an employees child, even the kind of pen to use, Isaacs covers everything you need to know about writing successful business notes. I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to take their business relationships to the next level.

My mother gave me this book when I was newly employed as a young professional. I cannot tell you how many times I have referred to it during the almost 15 years I have owned it. Short, sweet and to the point, Business Notes has been a wonderful resource for both traditional hand-written notes and email communication. I highly recommend this book for college graduates and seasoned professionals.

I have many other books but this is the one I go back to time and again. How-to books in my library are used as inspiration and guidance for writing sound notes. I've found this book to be an outstanding source. Actually, I have the hard copy and the Kindle version :)
