A focus on business processes, as well as manufacturing processes and general OM problems, plus an emphasis on simulation modeling using a state of the art commercial simulation software make this a unique, standout volume in the area of operations management. The authors provide an introduction to business process design, process management and process oriented improvement programs, a simulation based methodology for designing business processes, basic tools for process design, managing process flows, introduction to queuing and simulation, introduction to Extend, modeling and simulating business processes, input and output data analysis, optimizing business process performance and process benchmarking with data envelopment analysis. For business professionals.

5.0 out of 5 stars The book for all BPM Consultants / Analysts, July 4, 2004
This review is from: Business Process Modeling, Simulation and Design (Paperback)
An excellent book. Though it requires some knowledge to OR, Statistics and OM to understand. A thoroughly enjoyable book, excellent end of chapter questions. Ideal to be used as a text book. The sildes that the author uses to teach in available on the web, and can be used by anybody desirous of using this book as a base text book.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good book on Process Modeling, May 9, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This was our textbook for Process Modeling and Simulation, and one of the great things is the CD that has a trial version of the Extend Software that lets you create working simulations, and there are some step-by-step instructions that show how to make them. Being able to work with the software with the detailed instructions made this a really good learning tool. One thing I would have liked to have different would be for the authors to separate the instructions from the explanations a bit more, so you could know when you have really finished the exercise.

5.0 out of 5 stars Better optimization tools available with other simulation software, October 9, 2006
This review is from: Business Process Modeling, Simulation and Design (Paperback)
Book is well done in terms of business process material; however the tools chosen to simulate the design of new and modified processes are sub par based on their limited ability to optimize the performance of the new processes. Other simulation software tools exist that provide the designers and analysts with much more powerful optimization capabilities.
