4.0 out of 5 stars Butyric Acid: The Definition of this Band, September 15, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Business of Punishment (Audio CD)
Just buy the album and you'll understand. Aggressive, relevant, unbelievable. You will love this collection of music. Consolidated addresses topics that other bands fear, recognizes the irony of their situation and braves the criticism anyway. Awesome fusion of Samples, Rap, Rock, Spoken Word.... Own this.

4.0 out of 5 stars They are exiting the Industrial Realm as we know it, April 24, 2003
This review is from: Business of Punishment (Audio CD)
Unfortunately, this was the one Consolidated CD that I could not find for years, so it was the last of their 8 albums that I was able to collect.....boy, do I wish I would have gotten this one back in '94 when it went to press! There is such a diversion from their 1992 release "Play More Music" and this album. With the help of avant-garde artists Jack Dangers (Meat Beat Manifesto) and Gregg Proops (Who's Line Is It, Anyway?), the Crusading Rap Guys have begun their deviation from what we refer to as "Industrial" to a new form of expression. Don't worry--you still get an ample dose of rantings from various concert crowds, but they have finally transcended the perameters of mainstream music......From here on out, don't expect to hear anything merely industrial from this group. There are a few filler songs on this recording, but songs like "Butyric Acid," "Consolidated Buries the Mammoth," "Born of a Woman," "Cutting," "Meat, Meat, Meat and Meat," "Dog + Pony Show" and "Emanicipate Yourself" make this CD a four-start triumph and worth the purchase price....FROM THIS MOMENT FORTH, WE ARE BLACK LESBIANS!

Consolidated hits you with a non-PC message that is a cool, funky delight. I am pretty liberal and these dudes scare me. Buy it, crank it and think!

5.0 out of 5 stars Less banter, more music...., April 25, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Business of Punishment (Audio CD)
I hadn't heard of these guys until maybe a month ago, so I am basically reviewing a movie that everyone has already seen. "Business of Punishment" is the third Consolidated album that I have heard, the others being "Friendly Fascism" (excellent) and "Play More Music" (unfocused). This album is not as heavy handed as some of that other material, with more of an emphasis on the music rather than audience "banter". Their are lots of great songs, "Born of a Woman" blows me away, and "Butyric Acid", "Business Of Punishment", "Worthy Victim", "Today Is My Birthday", and "No Answer For A Dancer" are all excellent.

4.0 out of 5 stars Upper Cut!, May 25, 2008
This review is from: Business of Punishment (Audio CD)
For those of you who like music with substance, with a message, this one is the punch your looking for. Hip-hop based music, but not only, this guys mess with your mind and with your hips. There's good stuff to dance too.
