From Library Journal
The PLUS editions of this series are designed to be used by Internet instructors. Corresponding "book alone" editions for each number in the series are available for use by participants in Internet workshops or by self-paced individual learners. These two PLUS volumes are ready-made Internet "workshops in a book." They contain basic information in the form of lecture notes about the Internet and hands-on exercises covering telnet, E-mail, gopher, FTP, and the World Wide Web, as well as sections listing pertinent Internet sites for the subject areas. In addition, there are tear-out sheets to be used for making black-and-white overhead transparencies and/or handouts. Also for those who can't seem to get enough "gee-whiz" technology, there are diskettes (IBM or Macintosh) containing Microsoft PowerpointTM files that can be used to create color handouts, transparencies, or PowerpointTM slide shows. Those without PowerpointTM software can view, but not edit, the files by using an accompanying viewer program. These volumes are not carbon copies of one another; each reflects its subject matter and intended audience. They contain a wealth of materials for creating workshops, especially for those with limited time to start from the ground up. Highly recommended for librarians who are, or who want to be, Internet instructors. [The first two titles in the series are Lee Jaffe's Introducing the Internet: A Trainer's Workshop and David F.W. Robison's All About Internet FTP: Learning and Teaching to Transfer Files on the Internet; librarians with access to a web browser can order online at http:// www.internet-is.com/library and receive a five percent discount.-Ed.]-Robert L.
