The title of this book indeed says it all - in it I found "everything I need to know" about starting a business - and then some! Strauss writes in a friendly, entertaing way that made even complicated subjects (finances, yuch!) pretty easy to understand. Another thing I liked about the book was the section on the "Shoestring Entrepreneur" - how to start and grow a business without a lot of money.

Overall, it was very helpful.

This book was not of any help to me. It mentions all the aspects of business you need to be familiar with before starting one of your own, but it does not give any help on any of these aspects.
For example in financing your startup, it mentions geting a loan and using your credit cards. Honestly if thats the way to finance a business then you can add going on a diet and saving your lunch money. It goes on giving you mostly unintelligent information and advice like "buy a computer", "save rent, work from home". Put your money on another book and save yourself the trouble of reading it.

I really like this book and am glad that I bought it.
It has lots of useful ideas for me and I'll be paying close attention to Mr Strauss's suggestions.
I've also recently read Untapped Wealth Discovered by Jeff Marquis and Kerry Harrison and this book is extremely different, refreshing, and brings a new approach to the business world.
I like this book too and strongly recommend that if you've recently lost your job then read it.

If you are really interested in starting your own business and have no idea how to begin or what it means to work in a small business, this is the book for you. Very simple presentation with easy to understand explanations will take you step by step through the process and the decisions you will have to make along the way. It is well worth the money. If you are already a small business owner and you are thinking about moving up in the business world with your organizational structure, this will also help to to decide what form of organization you might want.

I just finished reading this book, and it was certainly a wealth of information that I did not know about. I found it useful as an introductory tool for someone, like me, that has never owned a business before and just wants the overall picture! Highly recommended.

Good starter book especially if you don't have a business background or education, but if you have those things you may want something a little more robust.
