Very useful- very practical examples,

My knowledge of stats was limited to mean, median, mode, SD, variance, and the other basics; I knew very little about probability distributions, hypothesis testing, regression and the like. This book explains the fundamentals very well and the exercises are very practical, so they are easy to relate to. I would recommend buying the edition with the CD because there a number of exercise questions that need the CD. It's totally worth it!
