Book Description

A collection of short business stories (parables) --similar to Who Moved My Cheese--that help executives, consultants, sales people, managers, instructors, and business people make their point.
The art of story telling has been replaced by fancy powerpoint presentations. Management Consultant and Novelist (and currently Adjunct Professor at the Drucker School in Claremont), Joseph Lee, shares stories that had worked throughout his career international consulting career. From an incident at the Salvatore Ferragamo store to a hilarious story about all star pitcher Hideo Nomo, Joseph tells us why stories move us and leave audiences with lasting memories.

The book is scheduled to be published in bilingual format in Japan in Fall, 2008. This is a pre-publish US (English) only version and contains some formatting glitches, so will be available for the pre-release price of only $6.00.

More About the Author

Storytelling in the Business World--Wow, what a novel idea!!!

Surprisingly, the longer we stay in business, the lousier we become in communicating. We live in a constant world of "No, you can't do this, no you can't do that." If you're a professional, you've experienced that blank moment when the client just stared at you, totally lost. You know what it's like to lose an audience during a big presentation.

I teach MBA students. I was also a consulting partner at a Big Firm where i dealt with Global Fortune 500 clients. The ability to tell stories, whether it is in Leadership Training, proposing to clients, summarizing key finding, and in connecting with the audience--that's the differentiator in today's world.

Jack Welch will tell you it's all about winning. Michael Porter will tell you differentiation is everything. Spenser Johnson loves to talk about the lost cheese. Warren Buffet insists if you can't explain it, you don't understand it. So is everyone right or is everyone wrong?

What makes them all so great? They're successful, and they're all great story tellers.

I've been a consultant for 25+ years. I was born in Hong Kong, grew up in Japan, and now live in the US. I tell clients that if you're spending money on cultural difference seminars, you're wasting money... communication is not about studying differences... it's about finding what we share.
