From Library Journal
Simon Bognor, series protagonist and special investigator for the Board of Trade, visits Scarpington, England, to ascertain the nature and origins of representative middle-class economic values. What he finds there, however, startles his sensibilities: the Artisan's Lodge, an apparently austere and admired club of privilege and influence, provides cover for well-organized sex games, ruthless business takeovers, and perhaps even murder. The novel is hindered by its lack of serious intent, several wild and crazy characters, unlikely personal and place names, and Simon's constant drink-induced high. For series fans only.
