1.0 out of 5 stars No wonder most businesses fail in the first 5 years., September 3, 2011
By
This review is from: Business (Hardcover)
I can't find my Introduction to Business textbook from college so I thought I'd buy a new one from Amazon to use as an occassional reference as needed. After taking a look at the contents of this textbook recommended by an online course, I can understand why so many businesses fail today. Who are these people writng these currect business textbooks? Academics -- progressive academics? This book has more in "green" propaganda and "planet" responsibility emphasis than information on what it takes to be a successful business person. If this is what is being taught as an introduction to business, it's telling as to why we have so many incompetent CEO's today.

An introduction to the system of capitalism should include an emphasis on how the market place dynamics work, customer centered product development and services; advancement in the internet; distribution options, etc. Socialism does not work - as proven by today's mess in Europe, not to mention all the fallen prototypes. If you want to teach the moral and ethical matters that affect the company, its community, the planet, etc., create another course and offer it as an elective. Academia needs to get business people to write business textbooks -- or we are going to continue to see further decline in our economy and continued failure of business in general.

1.0 out of 5 stars The most horrible I have ever received., February 16, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Business (Hardcover)
The image description on Amazon.com shows this book with a front cover, like the Hard-Back or Hard-Cover has. My professor has the hardback which is the one I wanted but the Image on Amazon is not what you get. There's not even a cover! You get a "Loose Leaf" copy with torn pages. So not what I was expecting. At first, I was like... Yeah, my book is here! :) Then was like, awe man! :( So not good for business textbookseller.student It doesn't even deserve one star! I love Amazon.com, but textbookseller.student needs to fix this. Oh, and the binder it came in, opened up en route, and now I have to put all the pages back on the rings. So not cool! / They called me the very next morning and fixed the problem. That I was thankful for... Thank you textbookseller.student Now all I need to do is order the hard copy which I need ASAP since I'm now two chapters behind in class.
