Straight Talk about Small-Business,
By A Customer
This review is from: In Business for Yourself (Hardcover)
Bruce Williams' book is simply a classic business primer. No pie in the sky here, just good, solid plain English advice about how to get it done. Bruce is not one of these professorial types who lectures about business with no practical experience. He's been there, done that. Far more useful than those Wall Street or academic jibberish books.

An honest, tell it like it is book for the business owner.,

The best how to succed in business book I have ever read. This is a no nonsense, tell it like it is guide covering many crucial aspects of business ownership. Practical advice from first hand knowledge of someone who has been there and done that. No pie in the sky, you are guarenteed to make millions advice to be found here but plenty of good ideas and pitfalls to avoid with an amusing anectode or two sprinkled in for good measure. I read it before I started my own business and four and a half years into business ownership I am finally buying my own copy because I need it more now than ever.

Great Book,

One of the best books out there on starting a business. This is not a get-rich-quick type book. Bruce tells it like it is--lots of hard work. I recommend it 100 percent

Great 'No Nonsense' overview,
By
This review is from: In Business for Yourself (Hardcover)
This is a great no nonsense overview which touches upon virtually all of the issues you need to be thinking about when going into busines for yourself. It's a good primer, an easy read, without getting overly technical. One of the things I really appreciate about this book, is that Bruce Williams is realistic about being in business for yourself. He tells it like it is rather than espousing a lot of B.S. Mr. Williams has started several businesses of his own and his clear and to the point thoughts are conveyed well here.

Straight Forward, Common Sense, Great Read,

As a big fan for years of Bruce Williams on the radio, his book is just as good.As a gentleman who attempted at business a couple times, and failed he offers great advice what not to do. Starting a business is a risky business. Its not for everyone. Everyone should read this book to determine if you know what you are getting into. The best advice I got from reading, was do not try to do everything yourself. If your weakness is math, hire an accountant. Selling, hire a sales manager. Advertising, hire a PR person. A great read and book to have nearby as a refernce book as you run your business. Thank you Bruce - "I wish you well good friend"

I used to listen to Bruce Williams on AM radio for years before I bought his hardback book. I found the book to be just like his radio show - informative and entertaining. I learned a lot about BW and his former business experience that I had not heard before, so it was not a re-hash. About a year after I read his book, I started my own business, which thrives today. The main thing I learned from his book is the big mistake most entrepreneurs make - they overestimate sales and underestimate expenses. Then it turns out the projections for the business making a profit are distorted. Even after reading this book, I did just that. I guess I'm just optimistic, but the reality was that it took much longer for my business to become profitable than I expected. But I could see monthly improvements, so I just had to hang on long enough, and it worked out. I used a lot of BW's ideas about marketing and advertising in my business. It won't be the only book you need to read to get a good business going, but it should be the first. It's just a good, general overview. I still made mistakes, but I made fewer mistakes in my business venture thanks to Bruce's book.

Maybe a bit too canned.,
This review is from: In Business for Yourself (Hardcover)
All the reviews so far sound like personal friends of B.W. who are puffing the book. The book is simple and would require more information. So why not just go buy a book with more information.
