Inspired by… Read more Trevor Tahiem Smith Jr. grew up with other rappers Jay-Z and the Notorious B.I.G. in New York, and changed his name to Busta Rhymes at the suggestion of Chuck D. of Public Enemy. At 17 Rhymes was a member of the rap group Leaders of the New School along with Dinco D and Charlie Brown. The band got their break touring with Public Enemy. They released their debut album A Future Without a Past in 1991.
