More About the Author

John Schindel is the author of the BUSY books series, which now numbers more than a dozen photo-illustrated books for the youngest of readers and their families. The series debuted with BUSY PENGUINS (2000), an immediate hit with critics, librarians, booksellers and parents who adored the rhyme "penguin pooping, penguins drooping."

John searches worldwide for the best photographers to include in the series and then selects the best combination of photographs and rhymes. One photographer sent him over 2500 pictures to review; the book needed only 19. Making BUSY books, John is able to combine his immense joy of looking at high-quality photographs with his love of writing books for young children.

In addition to the BUSY books, John has authored seven illustrated picture books for children 4 - 8 years old. He lives in the San Francisco Bay area.

Great photos and cute rhymes make this a perfect book for our son, especially because he shares his home with two dogs and is exposed to many more at dog agility shows.

My 12 month old loves this book. We read it often and he studies the pictures. I love the simple rhymes and interesting photographs--especailly "doggy diving." We'll be reading this one for a while.

I love this book as well as many others of the series. I have often given these books to new parents and everyone raves about them. Never seen a kid not respond to the book. Incredibly cute.
