Book Description

Busy People's Cookbooks February 17, 2005

Busy People's Diabetic Cookbook is the answer for everyone who wants to eat healthier without sacrificing what is most important to them - delicious flavor! These recipes are not just for those people with diabetes, but everyone in the family can enjoy these healthy and well-balanced recipes.

Diabetes is becoming a national epidemic. The number of new cases diagnosed increased by 25% from 878,000 in 1997 to 1,104,000 in 2,000. Today 18.2 million people in the U.S. - 6.3% of the population - have diabetes. Shockingly, adult onset diabetes is now being diagnosed in children.

Sometimes when one member of a family is diagnosed with diabetes, two meals are made - one for the person with diabetes and one for everyone else. What's terrific about this book is that you would never know by tasting these recipes that they are all within American Diabetic Association's guidelines. They are that good, that delicious, and that amazing!

More About the Author

Our family's personal story of triumph over tragedy is used to give God all the praise and glory with the hope that readers will feel encouraged, inspired, refreshed; and that they too can overcome the unthinkable.

Points:
1) God can do far greater things through you than you have ever thought of, dreamed of, or imagined if you allow God and His will to be #1 in your life;
2) Thankfulness is an attitude you choose to have;
3) God still does miracles;
4) All things are possible - even what appears to be the impossible is possible;
5) Keep your eyes totally focused on God lest you become overwhelmed and depressed.

Sit back, laugh and relax while reading this amazing and true story behind the success of award winning author and inspirational speaker, Dawn Hall. With humor, energy and insight she shares her most intimate and personal details of how she triumphed over such tragedies as her husband's brain cancer, two house fires, financial bondage, depression, fighting the government, and the loss of her loving 38 year old husband. "I am an ordinary woman whom God has done extraordinary things through, far greater than I have ever hoped of, dreamed of or imagined! If God can do it through me, He can do it through you, too!"

Without knowing how to type, use a computer or anything about publishing Dawn Hall sold over 650,000 of her self-published cookbooks and won three national awards including 1996, 1998 Best Cookbooks of the Year award by North American Book Dealers exchange, 2000 Pinnacle award. Her amazing story of triumphing over tragedies such as cancer, financial bondage, two house fires and her young husband's death is proof that God is still doing miracles. Her faith, and persistence not to give up trying, is a source of hope, strength and encouragement to anyone who has ever felt down, discouraged, in financial bondage or has been fighting cancer and struggling in life.

5.0 out of 5 stars I love this cookbook!, September 25, 2005
This review is from: Busy People's Diabetic Cookbook (Busy People's Cookbooks) (Spiral-bound)
I have been usings Busy People's Diabetic Cookbook for several months. This Cookbook has a lot of Breakfast ideas, and delicious drink smoothies that I find very helpful to keep me going on a good, healthy diet. It also has a lot of other delicious entree ideas that are easy to make. My kids love the Super Fruity Strawberry Milk Shakes, and when made, and poured into a tall glass, it looks like a special shake straight from the malt shop! It's delicious. The Cream of Chicken & Brocolli Soup was delcious, as well as the Parmesan Potatoes. The best part of this cookbook is that the recipies are easy to make, and none of them take over 30 minutes to cook, including the preparation time. I am surprised that I can cook a good meal in a short amount of time, and it be delicious. The menu idea suggestions that Dawn adds for each recipie have been a great help to planning an entire meal. I enjoyed the Diabetic Busy People's Cookbook so much that I bought 3 more of the other Busy People's Cookbooks. This money was well spent. Each cookbook interacts with the others to help plan meals (if you need ideas and suggestions). These cookbooks are perfect for busy Mom's! I use them all to help plan weekly meals. I have lost 10 pounds already by changing my diet, and using Dawn's recipies. I am borderline diabetic, and if I can keep up with a weekly meal plan with some of these recipies -- my health is going to improve tremendously. I'd love to see Dawn come up with a cookbook for eating for one or two - some way to help me with breakfast and lunch ideas for (one person) that I would cook while the kids are at school, and my husband is at work. It would be great to have all Dawn's recipies on a CD to help make grocery shopping lists easier to handle, too.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good to get you started, July 30, 2006

This review is from: Busy People's Diabetic Cookbook (Busy People's Cookbooks) (Spiral-bound)
I bought this book to help my boyfriend manage his diabetes better. There are several recipes in here, but I was a little disappointed that there weren't more meal/main course options. Its great if you're primarily looking for desserts, appetizers, etc to serve, but I feel very limited with the options for a main course.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best diabetic cookbook I have found!!, December 4, 2008
This review is from: Busy People's Diabetic Cookbook (Busy People's Cookbooks) (Spiral-bound)
I have made more recipes out of this cookbook than any other cookbook I have bought. All the recipes I have tried have been very good. I just made the Pina Colada muffins last night and they were delicious. If you are looking for a Diabetic cookbook with easy recipes and recipes that don't ask for alot of ingred. Then you have got to get this cookbook!!
I would recommend all of Dawn Hall's cookbooks. I have also tried recipes from Down home cooking without the down home fat and they are also very good. There is also good information about diabetes which is good to know for the newly diagnosed. Another good reason to get Dawn Hall's cookbooks is a portion of the proceeds from them go to help Christian Health Ministries. This organization has volunteer doctors and nurses who offer basic health care to people who can't afford it. So you get great recipes and you help a cause how can you not get this cookbook!!
