3.0 out of 5 stars Too many "altered" food ingredients
Her autobiography is inspirational and her love of Christ is a blessing. Unfortunately her recipes use far too many "altered" or pre-made ingredients meaning I have yet to try a single recipe. My kitchen pantry does not normally contain the following:

Jam-packed with creative, low-fat recipes, decorating tips and gift ideas, this unique cookbook by the author of the "Busy People's" series is handily organized into menus, complete with grocery lists, each listed according to various holiday meals. A "Menus at a Glance" section gives a great overview of all the dishes, making selection a breeze. Dawn Hall is a Christian author who has always had to watch her weight. These recipes are low in fat, easy, and delicious. They also make a nice presentation for guests. Highly recommend.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love this book!!, November 3, 2011

This book has wonderful low calorie EASY recipes for the holidays. I disagree with a previous review stating they don't have these things in their pantry...well, I always have sugar-free pudding, low-fat coolwhip and many other reduced fat items. I try to cook healthy for my family and these recipes (the ones I have tried) are excellent-if you didn't know they were lower in calorie..you wouldn't know! Worth the price and so easy!

3.0 out of 5 stars Too many "altered" food ingredients, November 15, 2010
Her autobiography is inspirational and her love of Christ is a blessing. Unfortunately her recipes use far too many "altered" or pre-made ingredients meaning I have yet to try a single recipe. My kitchen pantry does not normally contain the following:

*Reduced fat butter crackers
*Cake mixes
*Cool Whip
*Sugar free instant pudding mixes
*Fat-free low carb milk
*Veggie crumbles

Her Christmas cookbook uses the above ingredients. It also uses low-fat or fat-free cheeses. You can not find either any more at any of my local grocery stores. In favor of her Christmas cookbook is the using of less pre-made ingredients and it does include two homemade baking mixes using "normal" ingredients.

BTW JoAnna Lund's cookbooks follow a similar theme of using Cool Whip, pudding mixes and the like to whip up her recipes so this author is not alone when using this method of cooking.

For me I'll try to figure out ways to prepare low cal and low fat recipes using basic cooking ingredients.
