But in Here: The Old Man's Last Goose and Other Tales

I wanted to come back in and give my thoughts on this great little book that was written by a dear friend of mine.

What an excellent collection of old, true, down to earth stories told from the heart. Great read for before bed since the stories are often uplifting, and short. I read the book over a period of time before bed and at off times throughout the day. They always left me feeling good about life. They are stories from Charles' whole life (not all his stories by a long shot, everyone wants him to write the second book!) told in a heartwarming manner. You can just about hear him telling it. It's like sitting around the table, or in front of the fire just enjoying storyteller Charlie weave his remembered stories. It is a fun read.

If you enjoyed old tales told by your grandfather storyteller, then you will likely love this book as much as I did.

This is an often funny and sometimes touching collection of short stories from the interesting life of an insightful man. Each story is usually no more than several pages and all are entertaining accounts of stages along his life's path. You'll meet a host of bizarre personalities along the way, experience last minute story twists, and best of all, you can put it down if life around you gets busy and easily continue with a new story when time permits. You will also see that even though he made plans and did the things one does to direct his destiny, his life has been the life lived while making other plans. It shows that sometimes the flukes turn out to be the events most remembered and most revealing of purpose. A gentle, humorous read of a man of faith.

A friend of a friend asked me to buy this book. I didn't really know what to expect. The forward intrigued me and the first story got me reading and I must confess, I didn't stop reading until I had read them all!

This book does what the author suggested, some of the stories are laugh out loud funny and some are kinda sad. A few will make you stop and think about your own Dad or Brother or Mother or Sister.

This is GREAT book to have around to just pick up and read a couple of stories
