5.0 out of 5 stars He is a better singer than he is a comedian., August 11, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: But Seriously (Audio CD)
Always noted for his impish wit on stage this album puts Mark right up there with the best of the contemporary Southern Gospel male singers. I was more than pleasantly surprised I was even amazed at just how good Mark is on his own. It's obvious he doesn't need the rest of the Gaither Vocal Band to sing. Now if he just looked half as good as Candy Hemphill Christmas he would have it all.

5.0 out of 5 stars WOW!, August 31, 2001

I've been a fan of Mark's for years, and have always absolutely LOVED his singing. This album, however, takes the cake! He wrote on the inside of the cover that he when he decided to make this album, he wanted to do it as if it would be his last ever singing album -- and he's outdone himself. From the toe-tapping "Bein' Happy" (with backgrounds by the Gaither Vocal Band) to the absolutely breathtaking "We Fall Down" Mark proves that yes, he can sing, and yes, he can be serious. He sings like an angel, and further endeared himself to me. ReMarkable!

5.0 out of 5 stars A MUST HAVE, May 16, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: But Seriously (Audio CD)
It's obvious the songs were very carefully chosen and it shows in Lowry's performance. I bought two -- one for my office and one for my home -- something I've never done before -- I just didn't want to be without this music!. The music is delightful and at the same time thought provoking,

4.0 out of 5 stars But Seriously...the guy CAN sing!, May 10, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: But Seriously (Audio CD)
OK, I admit it... I've already reviewed this album for Christian Entertainment and I've also interviewed Lowry. Told me he couldn't sing! What a laugh! The guy CAN sing. And plenty of good cuts on here to prove it. 'Course, he may never replace Placido Domingo but then I'd like to see Placido try and sing Southern gospel.

5.0 out of 5 stars Mark Lowry DOES have a serious side and this is the result!, March 5, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: But Seriously (Audio CD)
If you have ever wanted to hear the serious side of Mark Lowry this is the album for you. It contains a peppy ballad "Being Happy" which includes backup vocals by the Gaither Vocal Band. Another good pick is the old Rusty Goodman tune "Look For Me" which is a duet with His mother Beverly. "A House of Gold" is also a favorite which features Michael English and his vocal flip-flops. Also featured are the Martins on "Farther On Down The Road" and Vestal and Howard Goodman on "I Can't Even Walk". So all in all this is a must for any Mark Lowry or Gaither Homecoming Fan.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the great singers around..., November 8, 2001

It's not often one can listen to 30 second song samples and be blown away. But that was the case with this album before I got it. How good was it? I think I played it about 6 times the first day. Mark has a beautiful voice, sings with emotion and the ability to touch the deepest part of your soul, he handles many different styles well, and his phrasing is superb. He obviously chose the material carefully and makes sure you hear every word. I'm not sure what else one could want from a singer that Mark doesn't give you. The musicianship and production is first rate as well.

I purchased his CD because my son wanted me to -- he is a Mark Lowry Fan. After seeing his concert, listening to his project, I have joined his Remarkables list, too.
