5.0 out of 5 stars At Long Last, April 5, 2005
Neither of these albums has ever before been available on CD, although some of the tracks were included on 'The Rodney Crowell Anthology.' Released in 1980, 'But What Will the Neighbors Think" was inspired by a trip to the U.K. and the emerging "New Wave" scene. Ramones producer Craig Leon gave Rodney a stripped-down, almost punkish sound, 180 degrees from his debut "Ain't Living Long Like This." Here you'll find RC's original version of "Ashes By Now," plus a couple of real corkers and a lovely ballad, "The One About England." The self-titled 1983 release isn't as successful - the best songs were excised for the Anthology - but together the two make a powerful argument for Rodney's pre-country, pre-Big Hit music. He was already in top form here.

5.0 out of 5 stars At Last! But What Will The Neighbors Think?, May 13, 2007
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Sure, I've owned the BWWTNT LP and the other first 3 since Day One, like any other Rodney, Guy, Gram/FBB, & Emmylou fanatic, but to finally have it available on CD [thank you Collectables Records] is like Christmas all over again. I've searched high and low for this, even though I've burned a copy from one of my many copies.
"But What Will The Neighbors..." was my #1 LP from 1980, as I used to rank every album at years' end every year back then.
My favorites include "Heartbroke", "Ashes By Now", "On A Real Good Night", "Oh, What A Feeling", and "Queen Of Hearts". Guy and Albert should be proud. Not taking anything away especially from Guy Clark. Everything Guy Clark writes/sings deserves A+'s or 5*'s, too!
