4.0 out of 5 stars Works fines
This is a great little camp lantern. It is compact and easy to operate. I like the way it compresses into a small package that protects the lamp and makes it easy to transport. The canisters have not been a problem for me to find.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fuel Cartrige Sources, October 16, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Butane Lantern (Misc.)
The butane fuel cartriges this lantern uses are actually easy to find. Sources in my area are Target, Big 5 Sporting Goods and Sears. They are the same cartriges that caterers use to power their small stoves that they cook on or keep items simmering with so any restuarant supply store should also carry them. They are cheap at 2 or $3 a piece.

5.0 out of 5 stars Butane Lantern, April 28, 2004

I received this as a gift after my area suffered a severe ice storm and was without electricity for 5 days. Since the lantern came without a butane cartridge it sat on the shelf for two years until I was able to locate cartridges after reading on-line about finding them at a catering supply store. I was shocked at how cheap the butane is. This lantern is easy to use, it puts of plenty of light for camping and is easy to store. I am very impressed and PLEASED.

4.0 out of 5 stars BUTANE LANTERN / STOVE, June 11, 2004

Hi, I also have a portable butane stove....it took a bit of research, but I have found the following stores carry the cartidges:
Gander Mountain
Eastern Mountain Sports

I'm checking into Sears & Target, but have also found boat shops carry these -- however at an increased price up to $6 a can.

I love this little lantern. It doesn't blind you like a big 2 mantle Coleman. Its very adjustable and fires righ up without matches. The butane cartiges are very easy to find as they are the same ones used by caterers everywhere. They are dirt cheap at any resturant supply store and last and last.

1.0 out of 5 stars Butane Cartridges, September 30, 2003
This review is from: Butane Lantern (Misc.)
I also have one of these lanterns and have been unable to find the cartridges. I even wrote to Coleman and they said they have sent a boat load of cartridges to the Target distribution center close to where I live in Michigan. Still unable to locate and I have also lost my money. I'm beginning to think Coleman should not sell these.

One of you said go to a restaurant supply store. Do you mean Gordon's? I'll certainly try and thanks for your direction.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect Emergency Lighting..., September 9, 2004
By A Customer

I bought one of these for emergency use. Once I had occasion to use it, bought two more!

Their small size, and good light output make them perfect for regular camping too. The advantage of clean propane fuel in a can, easily and safely transportable, can't be overstated. The mantel, the way it slips over the supply line, rather than your having to hang and tie it, makes it easy to set up and service. I hope Target continues to carry and promote this item.

EVERYONE should have one of these in their emergency supplies for disasters, etc. You can safely use these indoors with proper ventilation.
