Another marvel from Doc Cheatham.89 yars old at the time of this session,he plays in an outstanding way;Doc was the kind of guy who seemed to be younger everyday.This duet produces many masterpieces;listen to Doc's first chorus on Ellington's "I got it bad",listen to "I've got a crush on you"(yes,Frankie,Doc stole your tune!),"After you've gone",or James P.Johnson's "If I could be with you".Doc's youth and pleasure of life explode at every minute.Every Doc Cheatham record is a gem,and if you like this one,I urge you to purchase Doc's duos with Sammy Price.You will spend hours of pleasure listening to it.Nobody will ever play like these great guys,and we have to treasure these moments of pure joy.
