Editorial Reviews

In 2000 the Katie Jane Garside (along with Crispin Gray, Katie Jane's partner from Daisy Chainsaw)-led band released Taxidermy, followed by Drink Me in 2002. But nothing that’s come before has prepared us for their latest. With Queenadreena the finger always points inwardly as well as outwardly but along with the disgust and shock, Butcher And The Butterfly can’t contain the sheer joy of taking that violence and rage and using it to create something new. Tunes like the brilliant ‘In Red’ take an exhilaratingly physical approach to rock’n’roll that sounds as much like a kind of explosive blues as it does punk or metal. Imperial. 2005. --This text refers to an alternate Audio CD edition.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hypnotic and Priceless, April 24, 2008
This review is from: Butcher & the Butterfly (Audio CD)
I have to say, when i first saw pictures of KatieJane I was a bit afraid it would be Courtney Loveesque. But NO! Queen Adreena is an amazing bit of music that should be seriously recognized by the industry.
KJ understated voice often rises to a near scream and lets you feel every emotion, not to mention the lyrics are extremely moving and not typical of todays "music".
While not a fan normally of screaming in music, I have to say QA makes it fit. Its beautiful and surprising. The feelings you can hear in her voice is real, not dubbed or recorded over. A refresher!
The music beats strangely. Like a dream most of the time and often rising with hard drum beats and amazing guitar work.
Try this one! Buy it. You need it on your way home from a hard day at work. The screaming is good for you! :)

Taxidermy, Drink Me, The Butcher and the Butterfly - Three very different albums from a very different band.

Well. What can i say?

If you're new to the band, you should probably go for this one.

It's the most accessible yet, and Queen Adreena really seem to have come a long way from Drink Me.

If you're already a fan, Butcher and the Butterfly will not disappoint. Queen Adreena have produced an album which is angry, erotic, beautiful and twisted. You simply must have this cd. I don't know what else i can say. For me, this is the album of the year.
