What's included: the "Close Your Mouth" manual (that's also sold separately), a DVD where you can see the author teaching a seminar, and a "Mindfulness" CD (which I haven't yet listened to.

Should you buy this, or just the "Close Your Mouth"? I prefer this. I just read the manual, but was doing some of the exercises wrong. It's definitely worth it to have both the written and video versions.

What's the premise? That asthma is caused by overbreathing, and that, by changing your breathing habits, you can reverse your asthma. To make it work, you have to do about 90 minutes of breathing exercises a day. The key measurement of progress is the CP (Control Pause), which is how long you can comfortably hold your breath after exhaling.

Does it work? So far, my CP has gone from 8 to 18 after slightly more than 3 weeks worth of exercises. I feel much better. My nose, which has been almost completely closed as long as I can remember, has opened completely. I also haven't had a single asthma attack, despite stopping my medication.

However, do be aware that it will take months of daily exercises to fully conquer your asthma (the magic CP point is 40, and it took me 3 weeks to advance 10 points).

But, look at what you get in return: your life, minus asthma and medications!

I am very pleased with this product. I have not completed reading the manual but have begun to practice the techniques. The instructions are easy to follow and the book, cd, and dvd are very well done.

Initially I am making progress with this technique. It is too early to tell long term results. Definately worth the investment.

Many times just reading a book is not enough! Having the dvd, cd, and the manual is definitely a plus. I was previously so blessed with my "Anxiety Free" book purchase by Patrick McKeown. I knew I wanted this package to go along with it as well. If you are looking for relief from asthma, rhinitis, and snoring--- help is on the way with this complete buteyko clinic. Making an investment in your health through this complete instruction package is definitely worthwhile if you value healing to your body. It not only will make your days much easier to live---but it could save your life. It is written in layman's terms and easy to understand. The exercises are not hard at all, but you must be willing to make a committment to do them. Knowledge is somewhat worthless if you do not put it to good use. I rarely write any reviews, but this complete buteyko clinic method contained in the written materials along with the cd and dvd is definitely worth every penny. Five Stars!!!!!

This method make so much sense, and in a short time i have already benefited from correcting some of my poor breathing habits. My 11 year old no longer has asthma symptoms after only 2 months of practicing some of these methods. A MUST learn for anyone who would like to improve their respiratory health.

Everything you need to reverse your over-breathing and therefore your asthma is here, but you must do the breathing exercises using your FULL concentration and relaxation. I'm a 64 year old female with mild asthma and I have been following the program for two and a half months. I immediately felt better just from taping my mouth at night (I know. It sounds weird, but it's a simple solution to mouth breathing during sleep) and sleeping on my left side. I continued to feel better as I mastered keeping my mouth closed and stopped cheating by yawning, sighing, and sniffing. It took me a full month before my control pause (objective measure of progress) started improving, but now it has improved from 15 to 20. For me, doing the meditation tape each night is what allowed me to improve the control pause because it helps me to relax as I do the breath reduction. And I'm slowly accessing the ability to relax as I do the other breathing sets. At my current rate of improvement, it will take about 6 months to completely normalize my breathing and another 6 months to be sure that my body has accepted the lower volume of air as the new normal. I do not think I could have improved the control pause without the cd and dvd.
My only criticism of the program is that the manual states that your control pause should increase by 3-4 seconds each weeks. I think it would be more helpful to stress that for some people, progress is much slower and list strategies to use if you get stuck. Nevertheless, it is a fantastic program that will work if you don't give up. I have also read that the author will actually answer your questions if you write him, so if you get stuck as I did, you can use him as a resource.

This dvd/CD/book package on the Buteyko Method is by far the best available - it has the clearest instructions on both the DVD and the book - it's the next best thing to attending a Buteyko Method workshop as my sister did the seminar so that I can do a comparison & only costs a fraction of the price . It does require commitment to do the exercises however it is worth it as it does give me relief from hayfever , gives me extra energy , I am far more relaxed , my mind is calmer & I have a better sleep than I ever used to . The great thing is that you can email Patrick if you have any queries - which I did . Highly recommended . For extra info on Asthma and the Buteyko Method , I recommend Patrick's "Asthma Free Naturally " the updated 2010 version . I found set (Buteyko Clinic Method 2hr DVD, CD, Manual)to be straight forward and extremely helpful. I was able to avoid having to take the Inhaled Steroids (Symbacourt) daily which basically is a lifetime sentence by using the Buteyko Method outlined in this program. In addition i have been able to reduce rescue medication to a couple times a week from 2 to 3 times per day. This is not to say it's without some work but the choice you have is: 1) Learn to reduce you breathing or 2) Live with the symptoms and fight them the rest of your life. The work you put in is rewarded with better quality of life and less need for medication. The book is no nonsense and goes through the necessary exercises and is backed up with a DVD of one of Patrick's classes so you can get it visually. If you have asthma and want to improve your situation this package is worth it's weight in gold.

I have had really bad asthma for 15 years. I have tried every medication and every healthy alternative before this and nothing has helped for very long. you really won't believe how many things I have tried to feel better. After I started using the buteyko method I was finally able to control my asthma in only a few weeks. If you have breathing issues you HAVE to try this. It does take a little time to get used to and it takes some work, but its well worth it . Stick with the exercise every day and you will improve. I have bought a few books on the subject and they where good but, the videos really help you put it all together. If you don't buy this please find a way to learn the Buteyko breathing method. It may save your life from a lot of pain and anxiety.

THis is a very interesting programme for those of us who suffer from any kind of breathing problems. Both my wife and myself have snoring issues and reading and watching Buteyko Clinic method has started us on a training regime .
